24.01.2022 Holidaying here this year is no hardship - just back from the Flinders Ranges with a crew of friends and family. Rock pools and ruins, kangaroos and emus, driving through river beds, hiking over seabeds, biking, bonfires and ghost stories....
21.01.2022 Another local gem, The Vineyard at McLaren Vale offers gorgeous accommodations (sleek Cadole Avalon has proved so popular that it will be joined by Cadole Sierra very soon), perfect to hunker down on a winter weekend. Hosts Stu and Anthea will take care of everything from where to get the best local drop to what’s open locally. Then it’s just up to you to get cosy in front of the fire, surrounded by vines, and rekindle the romance that has been lost by sharing a home office with your significant other and/or children for weeks. Actually, book me in Anth. Sam Noonan
21.01.2022 Every winter the giant cuttlefish amass in Upper Spencer Gulf Marine Park, putting on one of nature’s great displays of colour and movement, all in the name of #gettingiton. Fortunately this is PG rated and if the kids can bear the frosty waters, they can get up close and personal with thousands of these alien creatures on a guided snorkelling tour. Perfect for the budding marine biologist...
20.01.2022 Over the past few weeks, COVID19 has had an unprecedented impact on the travel industry. During this time, I’ve contacted and will continue to contact my clients to talk through the various scenarios which could play out, in an arena which changes daily, sometimes hourly. I have spent countless hours in queues on the phone and emailed at all times of the day and night, speaking to airlines, hoteliers and suppliers to renegotiate clients’ plans and try and achieve the best po...ssible outcome for them whether via rerouting, postponement or cancellation. To organise refunds and rebook flights and hotels, to offer alternative suggestions and common sense. I’ve been proud of myself, my colleagues and my industry for our flexibility, patience and our overarching drive to assist our clients when the majority of our day’s work will be unpaid, or spent undoing future work to ensure that our clients are protected. This is why you use a travel agent, people. See more
20.01.2022 The Fleurieu is a region close to my heart with its stunning backroads drives, quaint shops and galleries (don’t miss South Seas Books and Trading at Port Elliott), rugged hiking trails including the Heysen, and beautiful coastline from Waitpinga to Second Valley. Deep Creek National Park is the perfect spot to isolate from the world, Port Elliott Bakery is the perfect spot to reconnect with it - you're bound to know someone in the queue. From architectural treasures to rustic country retreats there are some beautiful places to stay after a busy day exploring so make it more than a day trip.....
18.01.2022 I’ve been itching to get back to Kangaroo Island which now needs our support more than ever, and have just booked in at one of my favourite places in the world - Cliff House. We are already bickering about who will get the Tower Room, and planning our visits to Raptor Domain, Seal Bay, Clifford’s Honey Farm, The Oyster Farm and so many other treasures. @lifetime_private_retreats
16.01.2022 Qualia on Hamilton Island has long been a favourite of the jet set. If you’ve spent a milestone birthday or special occasion locked up with a box of Jatz and Netflix, Qualia is a perfect way to have a belated celebration. Send the kids to bond with their grandparents and head north for some sunshine - throw on your kaftan, pop the champagne and peruse the spa menu. If booking by 31 August I can also VIP you with 4 nights for the price of 3, a $100 USD resort credit and sunset cocktail cruise with my compliments...
15.01.2022 Thinking of a change of scenery for the family that's more enticing than Costa del Sofa or Backyardia? Here are a few ideas to get you started - https://mailchi.mp/3aaab88bf942/family-getaways-for-all-ages
14.01.2022 #holidayherethisyear As we well know, overseas trips are on hold, most likely until next year. With a limited number of beautiful properties available within Australia and NZ, and so many people looking to escape, now is the time to start thinking about your holiday plans. Rules, logistics and opening dates can be hard to navigate, and I’m happy to help with all the insider knowledge at my disposal. I’ll be continuing to post some inspiration on Insta of some of my favourite... gems, hidden and not-so-hidden, but I'll be posting re-opening dates, details and special amenities for my clients here on FB. First up for my Victorian people is Jackalope on the Mornington Peninsula which will be opening, initially for weekend stays, on 26 June. Midweek stays will be available from 21 September. Special re-opening rates start at $1600 for a weekend stay. 14.01.2022 We all love a tropical getaway but still relatively undiscovered is Orpheus Island, in the inner Great Barrier Reef a 30 minute heli flight from Townsville. It's equally geared to couples, friends and families. Take a picnic on your motorised dinghy and drop anchor for a private beach picnic, visit James Cook University's marine biology centre on the island, hike the trails on nearby Hinchinbook Island and swim in island waterholes, and soon to come - diving the new Museum of Underwater Art. Rates are all inclusive and the food recently won an AGFG hat. Offers include a Stay 5/Pay 4 so don't wait too long....
12.01.2022 Backyard bliss. This is the view from the beach house I’m staying in to explore the magical Bay of Fires on Tasmania’s East Coast. Many such places book out far in advance during the summer so it’s good to get in early. And I’ve been busily adding to my little black book during this road trip around the Apple Isle. What are your favourites here?
12.01.2022 As anyone who's been looking will know, summer holidays are almost completely booked out in SA. I have some January availability at a historic provincial-style estate in the rolling hills behind Port Elliot for January 13-15 (2 nights), 17-22 (5 nights) or 25 - 29 (4 nights). The estate sleeps 22 in 8 bedrooms so a great place for a few families or a group of friends. It has a swimming pool, tennis court, petanque lawns and, handily, a cellar door on site....contact me for details.
12.01.2022 The Milky Way is superlative from the Flinders Rangers, where light pollution is minimal. The night sky will be crystal clear - so pack some good boots, woolly socks and ghost stories for the campfire and head north. Feel free to chat to me about a plan - some options are closed for 2020 but there are plenty more: glamping, historic homesteads, or a lo-fi station stay to experience the wide open spaces - social distancing guaranteed!
11.01.2022 With the recent announcement that regional tourism is now open for all South Australians, now is the time to start exploring our beautiful backyard. Stay tuned as I’ll be making suggestions to help get you started over the coming days. Demand will be high as our itchy feet start to get the better of us. I’ve already made my booking for the June long weekend. Can you guess where?
11.01.2022 News out of SA yesterday was a blow, but our community engagement and fast response give me hope that our summer holidays will still be on the table. If you're unsure about the status of your plans, a resource that I find useful as a professional is this handy link to all state border restrictions and quarantine requirements: https://www.healthdirect.gov.au/covid19-res/domestic-travel. Whilst I'm not happy that SA is listed as a hotspot, more than ever it emphasises the need for travel professionals - we are here to provide information, rearrange, advocate for you and be a single point of contact for your plans.
11.01.2022 Half price domestic airfares go on sale at 12.01am tonight under the Government's recent stimulus package. A few tips for those hoping to snare a bargain: sale is to selected destinations and for selected time periods so prepare to be flexible terms and conditions apply so if self booking, read the fine print... most regional accommodation and car hire is booked solid for months especially for peak and holiday periods so make sure you're happy with availability or have somewhere to stay before you fly. I often have access to cancellations so reach out if you need assistance.
10.01.2022 I’m not insensitive to the chaos which continues to envelope us worldwide, but I’m also part of an industry which has been decimated by that chaos. Being able to travel in these times (uncertain as it is) is a gift - don’t give up on it, even if it can’t happen for you right now. This was yesterday, off the stunning Tasman Peninsula. Good for the soul.
10.01.2022 Travel may still be a way off for some, but for those thinking ahead or planning staycations, there are lots of great offers available. Our luxury portfolio and contacts are second to none and thanks to our membership with Virtuoso and many of the best hotels in the country we can offer value and amenities that are just not available online. First up, Sydney!
10.01.2022 Firmdale Hotels are a personal favourite of mine, from The Crosby Street Hotel in NYC to The Covent Garden Hotel in London. All our clients are VIP'd there with a warm welcome, breakfast with our compliments and a room upgrade if available. Some very happy clients are at this moment stretching out on their (upgraded) terrace at The Soho......

05.01.2022 Tasmania’s Lyall Highway offers so much diversity of landscape, from the bucolic Derwent Valley to the Franklin Gordon Wild Rivers National Park, the copper pits of Queenstown and the postcard port of Strahan. Put your playlist on and prepare for one spectacular road trip.
03.01.2022 On Friday, the Adelaide Hills suffered devastating fire damage. In 46 degree heat and blast furnace winds, I took my son, dog and pygmy bearded dragon down to the city once the fire front reached 15 km from us. We live in a green, residential valley where the risk was low, but others were far less lucky. Thinking of our beautiful hills community- and hoping this picture taken on the Main Street of Hahndorf a couple of years ago will bring a smile.
02.01.2022 Ready for a staycation? Sequoia Lodge and the Mayfair Hotel are the newest additions to the luxury Virtuoso portfolio. What does that mean? 02.01.2022 The iconic Prairie Hotel at Parachilna has reopened with updated lodge-style digs and bags of outback style. Take a fossil tour on the owners’ station, a flight over stunning Wilpena Pound, walk the Heysen trail....and of course no Prairie experience is complete without a cold beer under the front verandah.
