25.01.2022 Very interesting conversation today with a client which I think represents a lot of chronic health issues in women today. We were sorting out her son’s gut health and learning challenges (through hair mineral analysis) and I asked about her own health as it was obvious to me from her son’s results that she would have a major copper overload issue (which often leads to mood, thyroid and hormonal issues in women). She said- oh I’ll look into that at some stage, we can sort me... out last. Ladies: do not put yourself last when it comes to your health! Remember the oxygen mask instructions from the plane? (Remember planes?? Lol). YOUR health is paramount!!! Don’t neglect it whilst caretaking everyone else.

25.01.2022 SNACKS: I often get asked about healthy options for snacks. A healthy snack should have a good balance of protein, healthy fats and nutrient dense fruits foods veg. Here is an example of a very common snack I have at morning tea time (around 11am). The meat is leftover turkey bacon.

19.01.2022 I find it absolutely incredible that the ‘dualistic’ model of medicine still has such a stronghold on the western medical system. The mind and the body are NOT separate! Treating body symptoms separate from mind symptoms is myopic and makes zero sense. Below is a good explanation of our ‘band-aid’ model of medicine.

18.01.2022 This is exactly why I never recommend intermittent fasting or skipping breakfast to my clients. No way around it- skipping the morning meal sends a distress signal to the body by increasing the stress hormone cortisol. Even worse is starting the day with just coffee- double cortisol whammy! Great book by Marc David - focused on how we eat more than what we eat. Explains so much about our modern metabolic, digestive and weight problems.

D Minder calculates how much vitamin D you need based on your body metrics, location, what you are wearing while out and works out exactly how long you need to be out based on skin type! Keep in mind though it of course can’t take into account your liver and kidney function in absorbing vit D and your genetic glitches in vitamin D metabolism but it’s a great start!

15.01.2022 I see women suffering migraines and headaches on a regular basis. 99% of the time solving these pains is very straightforward. 14.01.2022 One of the questions I ask in my standard (15 pages long!) intake questionnaire is how much exposure do you have to bug spray/insect repellent. Why? Because our exposure to toxic household chemicals has a direct detrimental impact on our health- it’s something else our liver and mitochondria have to detoxify. Now a major study has linked insecticide exposure to cardiovascular disease and early death. The associations were large!! Much larger than any ever found for red meat c...onsumption. Something to think about. The researchers examined the relationship between exposure to chemicals called pyrethroidswhich are found in garden insecticides, mosquito repellants, pet sprays, lice shampoos, and other commonly used productsand heart disease and early death. A study of about 80,000 people in northwestern England found that those with vitamin D levels under 20 ng/mL (50 nmol/L) had about 2.4 times the risk of hospitalization for COVID-19 than those with normal vitamin D levels. A retrospective study in Italy of 103 patients hospitalized for severe ...COVID-19 found that vitamin D levels were inversely correlated with the inflammatory marker interleukin-6, as well as severe disease and death.
