22.01.2022 Some great Autumn ideas for keeping little hands and minds active and learning at home.

21.01.2022 When we’re all stuck indoors it's easy to forget about the transformations happening outside in nature. This week children at our Showgrounds Children's... Centre are learning all about Autumn. They’ve begun by collecting fallen leaves and sorting them by colour and shape. It's a great way for children to build their observation, one-to-one correspondence and numeracy skills. Why not take a walk and see what changes Autumn is bringing to your neighbourhood. 20.01.2022 What a great Book Week we had here at RMCC. We spent the week celebrating children’s books by having the children dress up as their favorite book character and bringing in their favorite story books from home to share. We also had a very special group time where Australian children’s author, Charles Hope, read us the story The Year of the Rat (via video stream).... Literacy is a significant part of the children’s learning program as it helps children to become effective communicators, and celebrating Book Week is a great way to highlight the importance of reading.

20.01.2022 This year’s Children’s Week (24 Oct-1 Nov) theme is Article 15 in The Children’s Rights: Children have the right to meet together and to join groups and organisations, as long as this does not stop other people from enjoying their rights. To acknowledge Children’s Week at RMCC, the children participated in reflecting on the topic of friendships and what this means to them. Kindergarten is a key place where children meet together to share experiences as a kindergarten cohort. Children enjoyed a story about friendship and reflected that there were lots of friends at RMCC kindergarten. The children were also able to recognise through our discussion that each person at kinder was unique and a valuable member to our RMCC community.

08.01.2022 We were so pleasantly surprised by a visit from a kookaburra at RMCC today! This kookaburra was casually perched on the shade sail in the Toddler/Kinder yard when noticed by the educators and children. This sparked so much conversation and curiosity amongst the children including ways on how we can make the kookaburra laugh! Experiences like this help children connect and contribute to their world as they explore to develop an understanding about our native animals.
