22.01.2022 Do you need to let the school know if your child will be away from school? Yes, you need to let the teacher or front office know the reason why your child is going to be, or has been, absent from school as soon as possible. A reason needs to be provided for each day your child is away. ... This requires a responsible person, usually a parent, to provide a reason for the absence within three school days. Having information about why your child is absent from school helps us plan for their return to school and work out any additional support that may be required. See more

All of our parents are registered on Connect with the email that was provided to the school (please always update us with any changes to email addresses as this is the main way we communicate with parents). All parents received log in information in June of this year. Please follow the information on how to retrieve forgotten passwords, if you have misplaced your password. You can also download the Connect Now App from your App Store (which is a free App). Also all student reports are released on Connect and you can also view all previous reports from Tuart Rise Primary School for your child on Connect as well.

16.01.2022 On Tuesday 22nd September students of B2 had a Virtual interview with actor Ethan Browne who plays Tane on Home and Away. The students prepared their questions and ran the interview from start to finish, finding out about growing up in New Zealand, the skills and training he has been through, his daughter- the love of his life and many other wonderful bits of information, spoiler alerts included. Mr. Scanlon was greatly impressed by how B2 ran the show and has already heard back from Ethan that some other people in the Film industry are waiting for their interview invitation. 16.01.2022 As part of our NAIDOC week celebration our students at TRPS along with Acacia Culture Designs created this amazing Sand Art Installation. The three circles represent the three large Tuart trees in our playground. The three rings in each represent the early childhood, junior and upper schools. The rings are connected by six lines to symbolise the six years of our schools journey. Finally, you can see kangaroo tracks to remember the beloved kangaroo mobs that live close by. Al...l students placed a footprint in the sand to make a connection to our land and represent the major part they play in the school community. Our whole school gathered around our Sand Art Installation to have a picture taken which turned out amazingly (thank you Miss Nielsen). Thank you to Mrs Corunna and Mrs Cuder for helping to organise this amazing piece of art work. Public education in Western Australia #tuartriseprimaryschool #PublicEducationWA #NAIDOC2020 #NAIDOC

15.01.2022 In year 2 sport we have been learning a hip hop dance and all of the year twos performed it together for their teachers. They have worked hard to be resilient and persistent when the moves were a bit tricky and were very present dancers, making sure they had their own safe space to dance in. All of the year 2 teachers and Ms Shaw are very proud of their efforts.

15.01.2022 Activities with Dice Simple games with dice can help develop and strengthen your child's mathematical skills and understandings. Roll the dice, draw the dots, write the number (in ... numbers/words). Is it an even or odd number? Roll two dice, which number is bigger/smaller? Roll two dice, add them together. Roll two dice, make the largest/ smallest number possible. Roll two dice, multiply them together. Tally how many times it takes to roll a 6. Does it take more rolls than the other numbers? Does each number have the same chance of being rolled? Have fun!

12.01.2022 Good afternoon everyone I would like to acknowledge and thank our dedicated P&C committee for the amazing, selfless work that they do for our school - day in, day out. In particular, I refer to the two most recent fund raising events coordinated by the team - the Cookie Dough and Rebound events. Thank you also to all our families that supported these events.... Ordinarily, our school would hold four discos a year that raise funds to support our families with children attending the graduation lunch and Year 6 camp. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions placed on us, we have not been able to hold discos and the funds that would normally be raised for our Year 5 and 6 students have not been raised. Without any request being put forward, our P&C have offered to re-direct the funds they raise from these events to help cover this short fall this year. The total amount raised going to the families of Year 5 and 6 students is just over $5000. This makes a huge impact on a lot of families and I feel this needs to be recognised. Thank you, ladies. Todd Clark

10.01.2022 Attendance at Tuart Rise Primary School is analysed in weeks 3, 6 and 9 of each term. In line with Department of Education policy, if student attendance falls below 90%, you may receive a letter from the school to update you on your childs attendance rate. It is understood that we are all being extra cautious with sickness at the moment and keeping students home more. We ask that you continue to advise the school for every day your child is away so we can keep our records up-to-date.

This will provide access for people with strollers, prams or wheel chairs. Please remember there is no access to the carnival through the school.

06.01.2022 Hi everyone, It is with extremely mixed emotions that I inform you that I will be leaving the school at the end of the term to take up the principal position at Mount Pleasant Primary School from Term 4. As some of you may be aware, Kerry and I have been considering downsizing and living closer to Perth, and more importantly our grandson, for a little while now. Vacancies in schools closer to Perth can be far and few between and so when the opportunity arose I have given it ...a go and, unexpectedly, been successful. I sincerely thank everyone for making this experience at Tuart Rise Primary School the highlight of my career. Having worked with this community to create this school is a privilege I will always treasure. It has been an honour to have had a role in the education of your children. I expect to be able to confirm who my replacement will be later next week. Have a great day Gary

06.01.2022 Hi everyone, Firstly I would like to acknowledge all the students for the way in which they participated in our recent athletics carnivals. To see the high level of participation, endeavour and effort with genuine sportsmanship was joyful. I also gratefully thank all parents and spectators for still coming despite the need to adhere to social distancing requirements thrust upon us in this COVID environment. Mrs Shaw did an outstanding job of co-ordinating the carnivals to max...imise participation. She was well supported by a team that included teachers, education assistants, office staff and gardeners in order to make this happen. I thank all of these people for their contributions. Our virtual learning journeys will be made available by Wednesday for all classes except the two Kindy B groups. These groups will be accessible by Thursday. I encourage you to take the time to allow your children to share their journey with you. Though not quite the same as the in person event we usually have, students have still put in a lot of effort to choose and describe their most meaningful moments of the year so far. I am going to miss watching the pride and joy they would normally exhibit as they dragged you around the school. I have previously confirmed that Todd Clark will be the acting Principal for Term 4. I can now confirm that Allison Millard will be acting Deputy in his place for next term. We are still working to confirm who will be teaching B3 next term and will let parents know who this is as soon as possible. The strength of the schools leadership team is their commitment to the school values and the diversity of their skills and experiences. I know that, like Glynn during Term 1, Todd will do a great job in continuing to move the school forward. It is with mixed emotions that I write to you, for the last time, as Principal of Tuart Rise Primary. Being the last time I am going to be a little self-indulgent and tell you how proud I am of our students and staff. We have striven to develop students who are individual, independent, persistent and resilient, able to make decisions and take responsibility for their learning and actions. Though this is still a work in progress, these attributes are more clearly evident in the students who have been at the school the longest. I can say in confidence that our staff have always had your children at the centre of what they do and risen above and beyond expectation when faced with any challenge. In any school it is people that make the difference and we have good people here. It has been a privilege to work in this community and lead this school. There will always be a place in my heart for this place and its people. Until our paths cross again, I wish you and your families all the best for whatever the future holds. Regards Gary Crocetta Principal

06.01.2022 Principal Term 4 2020 Hi everyone, I am very pleased to announce that Todd Clark will be the acting Principal for Term 4. This is great news as it will allow for a smoother transition as we move into 2021.... During this time, the position will be advertised and a substantive principal will be appointed for the beginning of 2021. Have a great day.

05.01.2022 P&C - Rebound Event. Notes and Payment due this Friday 4th September 2020. Don't leave it until the last minute as sessions are filling fast.

05.01.2022 Hi everyone, I hope everyone is well. It is difficult to believe that we only have three weeks left of the term after this week. I begin by inviting all interested parents to attend our upcoming open School Board meeting on Monday, 7th September. The meeting commences at 6:30 pm and will take place in the school library. Agenda items include setting the student contributions and charges for 2021 and being updated on the progress of the new school, Baldivis South (planning nam...e) from the Principal Sue Heath. In my last message I mentioned that the athletic carnival would go ahead and I outlined the conditions under which parents would be able attend. I have amended and clarified some of these. This year the carnival will be split into two. The pre-primary to Year 2 events will take place on Wednesday 16th September and the year 3 to year 6 events will take place on Friday the 18th September. One of the compromises is that we will not be running a Kindy race this year because the management of the sheer number of adults required to manage this single event greatly outweighs any educational benefits for the children. Sorry about this. Due to the tremendous support that parents and carers have shown in maintaining our current operating guidelines and given we have only had 4 incidents where parents have ignored our COVID guidelines. The school board and I have great confidence that the majority of our families will maintain a safe environment for all and will respectfully follow the set guidelines. So, I am pleased to confirm that parents will be able to attend provided the following conditions are met: 1. One adult spectator per family (children under school age are able to attend with their carer or parent) 2. Parents/carers must remain in the designated area on the oval, that will be clearly marked, and enter and exit from the entrances to the oval on Tintagel Parade. 3. There will be no access available to the school or through the school. This includes the Early Childhood area. Unfortunately, this means that there will be no access to the school toilets. 4. Parents/carers are expected to maintain the required social distance while attending this event. 5. There wont be any food or coffee vans. The program and layout has been modified to allow spectators to be able to watch team games and running events (including pre-primary), and the dais will be positioned to allow photos to be taken. If you have any question please call the office or message me directly. I look forward to seeing many of you at this event. Kind Regards Gary Crocetta Principal

04.01.2022 A message from Mr Clark... Parents and Carers of Tuart Rise I begin by thanking you once again for your support throughout the initial stages of Term 4 and indeed this unusual year. We have endured a number of challenges together and we still have a few to go before the year is out. As always, I encourage you to talk with us at the school. We will always do our best to listen and work with our families to support our students.... My intention is to provide our community with as much information as possible, in a timely manner. This brings me to our end of year concert. As with all community events this year, it will look different to how it usually does. With restrictions for the number of adults on site, my plan is to go ahead with the concert during school hours with students and teachers only. I plan to live stream and/or record the concert for parents to view from home. We are trialling a live stream event this week to test the effectiveness of this and parent feedback will be asked for. I understand this is not the ideal outcome, but necessary under our current Department of Education COVID restrictions. On a different note, if your children are going to be attending a different school next year, we ask that you please inform the school as soon as possible. This helps us to plan for those students who will continue with us in 2021. With Pine View Primary School opening, a number of our families will be moving on. I wish all our students moving schools every success in their new school next year. A reminder to parents picking up children to please avoid using the carparks as a ‘kiss and drive’. This causes unnecessary congestion in the carpark and creates danger for our students. Thank you for your help with this. Lastly, I finish on a sombre note. This weekend, we said goodbye to Molly, our library dog. You will also see a separate post about this valued member of our school community on Facebook. Mrs Katnich has told us Molly’s health has been deteriorating and it was her time to go. Our teachers have sensitively informed our students today. We will all miss Molly and our thoughts are with the Katnich family. Enjoy the rest of the week and the remaining weeks of the 2020 school year. Todd Clark

04.01.2022 Our sustainability committee is looking for bee's wax to make waste free sandwich wraps.

03.01.2022 Hi everyone, I hope you have all been well and that you are all OK on RUOK day. Thank you to the family who provided members of staff with a RUOK wellness gift. Your thoughts are truly appreciated.... 1. Parent Opinion Surveys. Every two years we survey parents and carers for the opinions of the school. The survey will be hitting your email inbox within the next two days. Responses are confidential and the information provided is used to help us to improve what we do. This year the School Board has included some additional questions in respect to Covid-19 and more specifically distance learning. Again this information will be very important and will help us if we ever have to move to distance learning in the near future. 2. Changes to Staff. Many of you may be aware that Nathan Simms will be leaving us. This, sadly, has been confirmed and Nathans last day with us is next Friday, 18th September. Nathan has done a fantastic job in managing student attendance and working in a positive and productive manner with staff, students and parents. We have been fortunate to have being able to keep him on staff for as long as we have. I thank him for his work and wish him the best at his new school, Makybe Rise Primary School. Another staff member that leaves us at the end of this term is Sarah McGowan. Sarah has worked at the school for the last two years in a variety of roles. In each of these roles, her care of students, professionalism and ability to create positive relationships has been a strength. I thank Sarah for her contributions to the school and also wish her well for the future. One of the consequences of a new school being built nearby is that we will be needing less teachers in 2021. So sadly, there may be more staff members we will be farewelling before the year comes to an end. 3. New Value Own your choice The School Board has endorsed an additional value for our school. Our cores values are now: 1. Respect everyone 2. Work together 3. Be present 4. Make someones day 5. Choose your attitude 6. Own your choice. As the foundations of our work in developing emotional strong students, these values guide our actions and interactions. In particular we want our children to be resilient and persistent. Owning your choices builds on this as it allows us to teach children that the best way to become the best person you can be is to accept the choices they make, learn from them and endeavour to make even better ones moving forward. Have a great week. Gary Crocetta Principal
