08.01.2022 Rugby Australia Dream BIG time tour is coming to Regional Queensland. This project is being run by Jarred Hodges who is the former Australian Men’s 7s Assista...nt Coach and I will be assisting him on the Queensland leg of the Australia Wide Program. We will be in Bundaberg on Monday 15th July and are running the Indigenous Testing and Rugby 7s clinic from 1.30pm 3pm at BROTHERS SPORTS CLUB, Takalvan Street. We apologise or late notice but the project is new and has only been approved in the last month. We invite all Indigenous men and women, from all sporting backgrounds, between the ages of 14-25 to participate in these talent identification trials. YOU DO NOT NEED TO HAVE PLAYED RUGBY UNION PREVIOUSLY. Dream BIG time Program Information Firstly, please let me start by acknowledging the Traditional Owners of the lands that your organization cover and I would like to pay my respects to all First Nations Peoples, past, present and future throughout your Communities. In partnership with Elevation Foundation CEO Matt Sonter, Rugby Australia are delivering a project called Dream Big Time. The program is designed increase participation and to link First Nations Peoples to high performance Rugby programs, inspiring and raising aspirations towards achieving Gold at the Olympics in 2024. Dream Big Time will provide an elite Rugby 7s experience for First Nations People’s (men and women) between the ages 14-25 to be their best versions of themselves and aspire for Gold at the 2024 Olympics. Through Rugby, the program aims to enhance participants sense of self, improve their physical and mental well-being, develop cultural connections, promote leadership skills, and raise awareness of professional Rugby as a viable career option. While Rugby is the vehicle, partnerships with Aboriginal Medical Services are seen as critical to achieving vital health outcomes for our people. With the support of State Unions, program partners and the First Nations Community, participants will be sourced through a series of Community Talent Day’s throughout Australia. Community ambassadors i.e Glen Ella, Brendan Williams and current Australian 7’s players are also engaged to assist promote opportunities and support participants.
