16.01.2022 Why do we play Games? Play is good for the brain especially while we are young. Young rats confined to cages with adult rats who refuses to play with them grew up with smaller & less developed brains.... This led to the hypothesis of games play a role in the development of brain structures especially the cerebellum when were young. To be clear the evidence does not show it is vital to play for the development of the brain; teaching and exercise may have similar effect. But games are always a good way to get your students to find interests in their studies. Share with our tutors any games you play during tutoring classes. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/17/magazine/17play.html

11.01.2022 STUDY TIPS #1 Did you know exercise indirectly improves memory, mood and sleep, also helps to reduce stress and anxiety? Studies suggest exercising improves the health of brain cells, the growth of new blood vessels in the brain, and even the abundance and survival of new brain cells.... Australias physical activity guideline recommends 150 to 300 minutes (2 to 5 hours) of moderate intensity physical activity a week (30min moderate intensity exercise most days). That includes brisk walking, light jog, swimming, cycling etc. Even though you may be busy with work or study, exercising is very important for your health and well-being. Too hard and not motivated to do exercise? Try this: - Join a class or work out with a friend. - Plan ahead; put it in your agenda/ diary. - Track your progress; this will encourage you to reach your goal. - Hire a sports coach or personal trainer - you know where to hire one ;)
