25.01.2022 Another hive rescue today.

22.01.2022 I've been worried about Arthur a bit lately, worried that he would run out of work to do on our Native Bees. He now has plenty of painting to do. That should keep him out of trouble for a while.

21.01.2022 The girls are all home from their holiday pollinating Macadamia nuts.

21.01.2022 In December 2015 our first grandson, George John Akehurst was born sleeping. That was the hardest thing our family had ever endured , our family was blown away with the support that was given to Luke and Cassie after George's passing. Since then our family and friends have participated in numerous fundraising events for various support groups. This year Luke and Cassie are raising funds for Beards of Hope, who specifically support the fathers through the extremely difficult time of losing a child. For anyone who would like to support this fundraiser please follow the link. Thanks.

18.01.2022 A lovely morning for a walk around our yard to see what our native bees are foraging on.

14.01.2022 Great to see the Council cutting down this huge African Tulip tree opposite Sunnyside, these trees are poisonous to native bees and most insects. A lot of councils have declared them noxious weeds.

14.01.2022 FOR SALE. We have 5 hives of native bees ready for delivery. $450 each, delivered and set up in Tweed shire.

13.01.2022 This is a log hive we rescued a couple of weeks ago. It now stands proudly in my front yard.

13.01.2022 A busy day today making native bee hives. This is how we make our hives.

13.01.2022 Our Native Bees are loving the sunflowers.

12.01.2022 12 hive completed so far.

07.01.2022 DID YOU KNOW THIS TREE KILLS NATIVE BEES? It may look very pretty, but it's flowers are toxic to native stingless bees. It is the African tulip tree, and is con...sidered to be a serious environmental weed. It's fast growing and it out-competes native vegetation. Biosecurity Queensland recommends that if you have one in your garden, you can help by removing it and then treat the stumps with herbicide. Biosecurity Queensland

06.01.2022 These might be typical Dad jokes, but you must admit they are Beeutiful.

05.01.2022 What do most people do at 4.45am when you can't get back to sleep??

01.01.2022 This is how our obsession with bees started. It was about this time we were introduced to Native Stingless Bees.

01.01.2022 Once again we have had the pleasure to work with Earth Logistics resçuing a Native Stingless Bee Hive that was in a old dead tree. It's great to work with other local businesses that care about our environment, animals and our native bee population.
