23.01.2022 What does your bedtime routine look like? Doing similar activities in a similar way in the hour leading up to your child’s bedtime can help to reinforce a positive bedtime routine. Activities such as a bath, cleaning teeth, quiet play or reading can be some of the activities that might help soothe and prepare your child for a long night’s sleep. At the end of the routine say ‘goodnight’ and be firm if your child starts to resist, then leave their bedroom. It can take a fe...w weeks to establish your routine as a ‘routine’ but you should notice an improvement in your child being able to settle themselves to sleep. Many babies still require an adult to help settle them during the night. 1 in 10 babies need this 3-4 times a night. More than one third of parents report problems with their baby’s sleep this age. You are not alone on your sleep-deprived roller coaster. If you are ...concerned that your baby isn’t getting enough sleep, track your babies sleep for a week or so.
