22.01.2022 Come and join participants all over Australia to help us track flu and other viruses like COVID-19. One year ago, Twins Research Australia joined with Flutracking to launch the first ever twins-specific online study to help monitor the spread of flu in Australia. The Twins FluTracking Survey is open to twins and HOMs of all ages identical and fraternal and parents of twins/HOMs Australia-wide. It takes just 10-15 seconds per week once you are registered. If you’ve previously joined FluTracking as an individual, you can join up again at the twin-specific portal and you’ll be automatically reassigned to the new survey. Join this citizen science initiative today by clicking this link: https://www.flutracking.net/Join/Twins

21.01.2022 It’s International Multiple Birth Awareness Week 2020 and we’d like to highlight the amazing work of our friends and colleagues at the International Council of Multiple Birth Organisations (ICOMBO). This great video captures ICOMBO's inspiring aims that champion the lives of multiple-birth families globally. Don't miss ICOMBO's FB page during this special week, bringing to the fore many little-talked-about issues such as: myths and superstitions about multiples that can lead to discrimination; what are the factors that increase the odds of twins; what are the risks of multiple pregnancy and birth; when should twins consider zygosity testing; the importance of ethics when studies involve multiples; and much more. We wish them every success during this special week

16.01.2022 New twin research shows juggling remote learning and work commitments has been a particular challenge for many Australian families during the pandemic. Most parents thought they and their children were coping quite well, with many reporting the pandemic had brought their families closer together. Twins seemed to have coped particularly well, adjusting to the restrictions better than both their siblings and parents. This infographic captures key findings from TRA’s Wave 1 Pare...nts of Junior Twins/HOMs Survey (separate from our adult twin COVID-19 surveys), showing how the pandemic impacted families during the May/June period: https://bit.ly/3pgYomq We thank the 1000-plus amazing parents of junior twins and HOMs who joined in! Without your support this vital research would not be possible. We plan further surveys over coming months to explore how responses change over the course of the pandemic, including the impact of Victoria’s second lockdown. Stay tuned here on our FB for updates.
