20.01.2022 This handsome ‘Magnetic Metal Head’ has come to be Twisted Science Moorabbin. We can’t wait to have you making faces and playing frisbees with it! http://bit.ly/twistedmoorabbin

19.01.2022 Curious faces - wondering what’s going on in our minibeasts little homes and in our busy observation beehive; and then just wondering when all those balls are going to come raining down!

14.01.2022 How good are these sounds of delight? Thanks so much to all the schools that have returned to bring the fun these last two weeks.

12.01.2022 Bring your runners! Our visitors tell us that he Augmented reality climbing wall is one of the best things they did while they were here, so don't miss out! Due to COVID safe procedures, you'll need to bring your own closed toe shoes (makes climbing heaps more comfortable). It's easy to forget in our lovely warm summer temperatures.... But we promise you won't regret it!! Photo by Pat Kwon on Unsplash

12.01.2022 Have you ever walked past our building and been curious about what goes on inside? Sitting at my desk with a view of the front door, I see so many people squish their face up to the glass to try and figure out what's goes on in here. The trouble is, our gear isn't for looking at. It's for testing out, creating, sharing and designing. It's for playing with and playing on, and playing against.... Now's the time to delve into the cool stuff we have here at TwistED. Now is the time to support your local small businesses. And now is a great time to get back into the world and discover something new! Because you never know, you just might find your curiosity rewarded! (BTW, don't squish your face on the window - just knock and we'll show you the inside!)

08.01.2022 Say what? It's Australian Pollinator Week people! Get excited! Bees are the obvious pollinator of choice for so many of our food crops. If you've visited us here at TwistED Science, you'll know we love our observation beehive filled with very busy honey bees - but commercial honey bees like ours are not locals. They are European honeybees.... About 1500 species of bee are native to Australia and come in many colours and shapes. Many are stingless, but many also live on their own and don’t make large quantities of honey. Our native bees are great pollinators - just like the introduced species - but they are particularly important for Australia’s unique wildflowers and bushland. I'd highly recommend finding a YouTube video on how to build a native bee hotel and giving it a crack this weekend to say thankyou to these little dynamos. Comment below if you find a good one... 06.01.2022 We all know lightning strikes can be destructive, but did you know they can also make new things? Fulgurite is the product of electricity (such as a lightning bolt) hitting sand or soil. When mixed with extreme heat, the two melt together and create a tree-like hollow tube of glass. You may see these at a beach if you dig into the sand. Also referred to as 'fossil lightning', scientists say these can be found all over the world and are a beautiful feature to spot on your b...each holiday. Have you ever seen fulgurite before? #storm #twistedscience #didyouknow #sciencefact #interesting #amazing #fact #nature #awesome

05.01.2022 Ooh the suspense... Echuca Primary students showed off some clever programming skills today in our Robotics workshop - and as you can see, the results were super satisfying... Our kids are growing up with these skills - which are the future of work. Anyone else feeling like they might need to learn a programming language?

02.01.2022 Not really - we're open for fun! It's such a relief to be able to open and to be able to start to rebuild our business. Now that we are allowed to reopen, and we're one state again, we are looking forward to getting back to what we all do best. Here at TwistED Science, we are proud to provide a uniquely fun experience that families can enjoy together whatever their age.... What are you looking forward to rebuilding now we're "nearly" back to normal? Or are you starting something from scratch?

02.01.2022 Ha ha you think - she's actually lost it! But no! Researchers have recently discovered that when we see colour, our neurons fire in a specific pattern, depending on what colour we are looking at. They measured these patterns in our brain activity, using magnetoencephalography (MEG) which maps our brain activity with magnetic fields. ... (Interestingly, when we look at warm colours like red, brown and yellow there is a lot more brain activity than when we see cool colours - green and blue.) So researchers found that just by looking at these magnetic field shapes in our brain, they could predict what colour a person was looking at. Ultimately this research may help us to understand how we turn our sensory data - what we see, hear, smell etc - into perceptions and thoughts, and then actions. There's still so much to discover about why we do what we do! What would you try to figure out next?
