21.01.2022 Parent Opinion Survey last days (Closes Friday 13th Nov, 2020) The Parent Opinion Survey closes this Friday and at this time we have had 38% of our families complete the survey so far and thank those who have taken the time to do so. If you haven’t completed the Parent Opinion Survey and are in a position to do so we would be most appreciative. It would be great to get the percentage well above the 50% response rate A letter with details on how to participate in this year...’s Parent Opinion Survey has been sent via email and uEducateUs. Remembrance Day Students will participate in a Commemorative Service tomorrow at the Tyers Memorial for Remembrance Day commencing at 10:55 am. The school is currently selling Remembrance Day poppies and badges to support the RSL Poppy Appeal. If you would like to purchase a poppy or badge they will be available at the carpark gate this afternoon and tomorrow morning, or students can buy at school. Tyers Art Festival Raffle Books. Thanks to those who have sold a raffle book for this year’s Tyers Art Festival Raffle. As the physical exhibition is not occurring it is very important to sell as many tickets as we can. If you are able to sell another book or can place a book in a local business or workplace please advise the school office. See more

16.01.2022 Ready for the start of term. Our basket poles have been removed (Arthur Bailey - local farmer), inspected (WA Moore & Associates), sanded backed and primed ready for painting (Judah Smith & family and friends), painted (Missen Right Painting Services) and then re-installed (Murray Smith, Peter Shaw & Boom Logistics). New basketball and netball rings & nets were constructed (Aucote Fabrications) and installed and the backboards have also been replaced. As you will have noticed, there were lots involved in making this happen and we thank them all for their efforts.

14.01.2022 The Parent Association (PA) will be selling icypoles each Friday commencing tomorrow. Cost is 50 cents to $1.50. The PA will come round to the classrooms in the morning to collect the money. Please don't hand it to them prior or to the teachers as it needs to be marked down. If you want to pay for the next few weeks you can do so and the PA will keep note of how much is left each week.

11.01.2022 A busy week with the Foundation Class celebrating their first 100 days of school (including working remotely), the grade 4-6 students experiencing some of what it is to be blind and deaf and the start of Art Club.

10.01.2022 Footy Day/Crazy Hair Day tomorrow! Thursday this week we will be holding a Footy Day where students can wear their footy gear. It can be AFL, NRL or Soccer or any other team they support. Students can also have crazy hair on this day as well. Normal Thursday hot lunches will be available. Orders for hot lunches need to be in by 9:00 am Thursday morning.

08.01.2022 Tyers Primary School would like to offer our condolences to Mrs Haylock, her mum, Beryl, and family on the passing of her dad Patrick on Friday morning after a period of illness. Tyers PS has sent Mrs Haylock a message of support and condolences on behalf of the school community. If you send a message of support to Mrs Haylock we ask that you understand if Mrs Haylock does not respond immediately. RIP Patrick and best wishes to all his family and friends.

You still have time to purchase an artwork before the online exhibition closes on the 30 November 2020 as well as vote for your favourite exhibit. You can also still buy a ticket in this year's Tyers Art Festival Raffle by contacting the Tyers Primary School or sending a message. There are some great prizes on offer. Entries for the online exhibition are now open and can be found on the new dedicated Australian Paper Tyers Art Festival Online Exhibition webpage. Click on the following link to go to the page and complete the online entry form www.tyersartfestival.com.au For our artists, please ensure you read the exhibition Terms and Conditions as well as specifications for submitting artwork. There will be no entry cost for this year’s online exhibition, however all pieces must be for sale. There are a number of awards for artists which are also detailed on the website. 04.01.2022 Bandanna Day/Relay for Life Tomorrow we will be celebrating Bandanna Day and all children are allowed to wear casual clothes and their Bandannas. We have sold all our bandannas raising $690.00 for Canteen. This year we are also holding our own Relay for Life, where students will complete laps of the Tyers Football Oval. This will occur between recess and lunchtime. Please make sure students have suitable footwear and a drink bottle. Unfortunately parents are unable to attend this activity due to restrictions in relation to COVID-19, however the school will provide photos of the day.

04.01.2022 I hope the Term 3 school vacation has commenced well for all our students and families and everything is moving forward, as we positively continue to move through the various stages of the roadmap to removal of all restrictions in relation to Coronavirus (COVID-19). Return of laptops. To facilitate a smooth start to Term 4 we would like to have all laptops returned to school as soon as possible. Laptops can be returned this Monday 21st September from 10:30 am to 3:00 pm. Ot...her times can be arranged by contacting Peter. We would like to have all laptops returned as soon as possible so they can be checked, cleaned and re-imaged if necessary so they are ready for use as early as possible in Term 4. This will be dependent on all our families returning their laptops over the holiday period. Please ensure all components are returned i.e. laptop, mouse with battery cover, charger and stylus (if the laptop has one of these). Please ensure the laptop and accessories have been cleaned with an appropriate cleaning wipe. If you have any questions please contact Peter as soon as possible so we can facilitate a smooth transition into Term 4. 01.01.2022 Students and staff participated in our own Relay for Life on Bandanna Day to raise funds to support those impacted by cancer. Well done to all our students who put in an amazing effort. Thank you to all our families, relatives, friends staff and more who sponsored students and made donations to support this day.
