24.01.2022 U3A Corio Bay resumed classes and activities this week. New this year is Egyptology. This class will examine Ancient Egyptian art, architecture, learning and archaeological discoveries. It's being held each Wednesday as are Spanish for beginners, computers, social bridge and other assorted games. Thursday mornings we offer craft and chat and on 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month creative writing returns for its 4th year running.



22.01.2022 Computers for beginners and intermediate users is just one of the offerings at U3A Corio Bay.

22.01.2022 A couple of things happening in term 2 at U3A Corio Bay. Practical Steps for Healthy Ageing will be held at Lara for 4 Tuesdays commencing Tuesday 7th May at 10. AND Beginners Guide to Wicking Gardening will be held at Cobradah House (Bell Post Hill) for 2 Thursdays commencing 9th May at 1pm.... 21.01.2022 Today at U3A Corio Bay we had 2 classes meeting at Cobradah House, Bell Post Hill. Adventures in the Law runs weekly 10.30 am to 12. This is an examination of the law, particularly in Victoria with reference to decided cases and to current issues. This afternoon it was the first gathering of book club for the year. The book for the month is "Force of Nature" by Jane Harper. A new monthly activity begins tomorrow with Let's do Lunch. This one will be at The Shell Club.



18.01.2022 A new course starting this Wednesday is "What is History?" with Russell Campbell. Russell will deliver his opinion on "What is History" with his usual flair - lots of history, some poetry and some music and plenty of fun!

17.01.2022 The committee has been working on programs for 2020. If you have any suggestions or expertise you can offer please let us know. We will be visiting each class early in term 4 to check that details for members are up to date. Enrolments for next year will be on December 5th following the AGM.

11.01.2022 Looks like Book Club is on this week at U3A Corio Bay. This is a social group who meet monthly on a Thursday to discuss the "Book of the Month". The members love reading and enjoy sharing their views on the books. Books are obtained from the library by the Course Leader so there is no additional cost.... Enquiries: 0458 636 839.

10.01.2022 Coming up on the 31st March is our first Speaker's Day of the year. This one promises to be choc full of interesting stories and information. First up at 11 a.m. Olga Highstead, will speak of her family's escape from Russia, post war immigration and her career as a teacher of languages. After a light lunch, (please bring along a small plate of something sweet) local historian, Susie Zada will speak about the Ladies of Coryule, Anne Drysdale and Caroline Newcombe. 09.01.2022 Today members of U3A Corio Bay enjoyed a light lunch and good conversation to finish off the year. Next year we have some new courses and social activities on offer, including Egyptology, mosaics, Walk, talk and coffee and Let's do lunch. ... Returning classes are Women in history, tai chi, and creative writing, just to name a few. Members who haven't yet re-enrolled for next year are encouraged to do so online. This may sometimes get forgotten with the day to day pressures faced by both individuals and families. In this interactive forum, you will learn about how to protect your rights and prevent elder abuse as you age with presentations from Gerard Mansour, Seniors Rights Victoria, discussions with local experts, and a short film screening. 08.01.2022 Brain Gym is a new course beginning on 17th October and will run for four weeks. Brain Gym can enhance and improve mental functioning, memory and concentration. Also it assists with balance, co-ordination and flexibility, so reducing aches and pains and preventing injury. Sounds good to me!

08.01.2022 For anyone keen to join U3A Corio Bay enrolments and payments are being taken tomorrow, 28th January, at Cobradah Homestead between 1-2 pm. New members are welcome, and current members who haven't yet had an opportunity to re-enrol or pay are encouraged to come along, if they can. Membership is only $35.00 and for that you can join any number of courses offered.

07.01.2022 Save the date! 29th October. Starting at 10.30 am. Speaker's Day will feature a talk by Lesley Walkerden about her time as an aircraft refueler and pilot during the mining boom of the 1970s and 80s. Lunch at noon. (Members please bring a small plate of something sweet).... Then at 1.00 pm we will be learning about Trust for Nature. This is an organisation that protects native plants and wildlife for future generations of Victorians by conserving habitat on private land. 04.01.2022 This Tuesday 30th April we have a Speaker's Day at Cobradah House at 10.30 am. Lunch will be provided, but a small plate of something sweet would be appreciated. If you have Cornish Ancestors you will be interested in Neil Thomas' talk or if you want to keep fit and healthy in your older years Linda Wilson can give you some sound advice. 01.01.2022 Welcome to 2020! U3A Corio Bay starts back on 4th February. This year we have some new social and creative activities to get you out of the house and making new friends. ... If you like to knit, or sew or have some other creative hobby then come along to Sue’s Craft and Chat group, weekly at 10 a.m. Begins 6th February. If you've ever wanted to try your hand at mosaics, here is your opportunity. This new class begin on 7th February. It will be weekly at 10 a.m. and you will learn how to mosaic on any surface graduating from a flat surface to round and then anything you desire.
