16.01.2022 We made it onto the Canberra Sustainability Map, how cool is that! This was created by SEE-Change, a grassroots organisation aiming to promote sustainability in Canberra. The map links together a bunch of niche to large Canberra/Australian/Global environmental groups. I am finding ones I have never heard of but really intrigue me just in my first 10s of looking. For example: The Re-Cyclery (https://www.canberraenvironment.org/the-recyclery). A place to buy 2nd hand bikes! ...Check it out on their website for a more immersive user-friendly experience with clickable links! https://www.see-change.org.au/canberra-sustainability-map Keep spreading the green vibes <3 - Adrian

We are looking for a team of 6 volunteers to join us next Monday the 24th of August, 9:00am, at Mt. Majura Nature Reserve (The Fair) The planting session will take no longer than 2-3 hours and is a fantastic opportunity to learn about hands-on conservation work. We will be joined by some extremely smart and ecce...ntric individuals from different organizations who will be ready to answer any questions you have, or just chat about life! So please, check out the video for some more information and message this page/comment on this post/message Adrian to secure your spot! I hope to see you there :) - Adrian <3

08.01.2022 Thanks so much to everyone who came along to out Planet A viewings. you can still catch up on ABC iview here: https://iview.abc.net.au//fight-for-planet-a-our-climate-c Taking inspiration from Craig Reucassel the Environmental Science Society will be launching our own online "ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS CHALLENGE"! How it works:... Each week we will post your challenge which will involve in some way communicating over the internet something about an environmental issue. Spreading awareness is still the greatest challenge environmentalists face especially in Australia where we are inundated with false narratives from the Murdoch Media empire. There are no prizes, this should feel fulfilling in itself! We will however shout out anyone that completes the challenge in the next post. Environmental Awareness Challenge: Week 1 Your task: Contact a politician about an environmental issue you are passionate about and let them know why you feel it's important and how you would like to see them act on it. An easy example would be to email the Prime Minister's office (https://www.pm.gov.au/contact-your-pm) and give your honest opinion about his government's "gas-led recovery plan". It is important when communicating with politicians to be respectful no matter how much you disagree with their personal or political ideologies. It would mean so much to not only the ESS but society as a whole if we all actively engage with this competition. There are so many avenues to make your voices heard in Australia, not just voting every 4 years, but it takes some effort. Send a message to the page with a screenshot or a description of what you sent to get a shoutout next week! We look forward to seeing what issues everyone is passionate about. GOOD LUCK AND THANK YOU ALL <3 p.s. Next Wednesday (21st) will be our end of year meeting in which we will formalise the 2021 committee and recap this tumultuous year. Look out for that event and please attend if you can. I will be stepping down as President so it would be cool if you could come to my last official event. Thanks everyone, it's been a pleasure.
