25.01.2022 Wiradjuri is now running at capacity for 2018! Thank you to our community who have worked so hard to promote us this year! Please find our 2019 waiting list at: https://www.canberra.edu.au//wiradjuri-enrolment-waiting-l

23.01.2022 Thanks to you all, we hit over 1,000 views on our post letting Canberra families know that our Preschool and Child Care has vacancies! We genuinely couldnt ask to have a more supportive community backing us, than we have in those of you who have shown us love and support over the years. Keep pushing that post out, as we are happiest when we are full!... Thank you all, Adam and the Wiradjuri team

22.01.2022 Just had past Wiradjuri educator and friend, Lucy, let me know that this new Early Childhood Australia online module has dropped. Some nice footage of children from Wiradjuri working on some artwork, as well as some small insight into my thinking when it comes to arts-based education at Wiradjuri Preschool and Child Care.

20.01.2022 An additional part of our gardening and sustainability program has been the development and maintenance of a worm farm. We regularly feed our worms with a portion of our organic waste, and in return gather rich worm casting that improves the quality of our soil.

19.01.2022 Come and see Wiradjuri Preschool and Child Care Centre preschool teacher and educational leader, Adam, tell his contemporary Biripi dreaming story, mirriiyn (Stars), at the Hurly Burley Winter Fair on June 2!

19.01.2022 At Wiradjuri, we are committed to supporting children in their developing relationship with Country. We particularly explore the concept of Country, as well as our relationships with place, during our Bush School sessions that usually occur on Wednesday mornings. This is time during which children are encouraged to freely explore the casuarina plantation on campus, while safely, respectfully and carefully engaging with Country, and the more-than-human others that cohabit this place.

17.01.2022 Living on Ngunnawal Country, we love to explore the local casuarina plantation, where we have encountered a local mob of kangaroos, ant colonies, cicada shells, woodlouse tracks and kookaburras, high in the trees. The children and staff are encouraged to reflect on the relationships we have with our more-than-human neighbours, and to treat all life with respect and care.

15.01.2022 Growing plants from seed has been an amazing and rewarding experience for children and staff alike. At the end of our growth cycle we gather seed from our organic vegetables and have turned them into gifts for family and friends. This means that children who leave, at the end of the school year, can take a little bit of Wiradjuri home with them and grow it in their own garden.

14.01.2022 Looking forward to hosting all our friends for Smoking Ceremony at Wiradjuri Preschool and Child Care Centre, 12pm today!! Hope to see you there!!

14.01.2022 During our Bush School sessions, children are challenged to engage with aspects of the physical and natural environments that they would not otherwise encounter. These include fallen trees, small waterways and large ant nests. These challenging aspects of the environment provide natural opportunities for problem solving, motor skill development, curiosity and exploration. In this regard, we have found our time spent on Ngunnawal Country to be valuable, meaningful and lots of fun.

14.01.2022 Yet another of our more exciting and unique opportunities is that we often undertake Aboriginal smoking ceremony to mark special and important occasions. These occasions have ranged from the welcoming of babies born into our community, through to ceremony to prepare for the beginning of primary school for our older children, at the end of the year.

12.01.2022 This TED video appears to focus on primary, and even high school age children, but we here at Wiradjuri work hard to be our 3, 4 and 5-year-old students champions. Adam & The Wiradjuri Team

11.01.2022 Living and learning at the University of Canberra provides truly unique opportunities. On one of our semi-regular visits to the Environmental Science building on campus, we were lucky enough to meet some of the stick insects that the academic staff care for in their offices.

09.01.2022 Photos capturing some of the teaching and learning experiences at Wiradjuri. These range from the more routine elements of our day, through to some of the exciting and innovative aspects of our program

07.01.2022 Hi everyone! We're back on board again for 2018, and I just wanted to let you all know that we've got vacancies for children aged 2-5 years, as long as they're toilet trained. As I've said before, we couldn't ask for a more supportive and loyal community, and we would greatly appreciate as many of you getting the word out as possible. Do you know anyone that might be looking for innovative, culturally and emotionally responsive education and care for their children?... Let them know to contact us at (02) 62012087, or to jump onto the website below for more information. Adam and the Wiradjuri Team

04.01.2022 Every year we have someone on staff that takes over our little vegetable patch, and for the past few years a big part of our program has focused on the planting, growing and harvesting of organic spinach, silverbeet, lettuce, broad beans and snow peas. These vegetables help to teach children about life cycles of plants, and having the opportunity to grow them from seed is somehting many of our children thoroughly enjoy.

04.01.2022 Our Educational Leader and Preschool Teacher, Adam, has been working hard at getting some more artwork done for around the centre and even a few commission works. Keep a keen eye out and you might spot a few paintings taking shape over the next several weeks.

01.01.2022 When our vegetables are ready for harvest, we gather them and utilise them in cooking experiences. This not only ensures that we are more effectivey implementing our philosophy for sustainability, but demonstrates the popular paddock-to-plate process of food growth and consumption.

01.01.2022 Our playground is a bit steep, however we love the natural and challenging space our hill creates. Our established gum trees create a haven for bird life, and we have been blessed on several occasions to watch hatchlings grow in the nest and eventually take flight.
