24.01.2022 Welcome to the newest members of the UFA Anti Covid team, antibacterial wipe dispensers for each floor. Bit tricky to use but we will get use to them

23.01.2022 Morning all! So with grading just around the corner in August Steve and I were looking at attendance of each student. The list below states students who have en...ough classes to participate in the grading and those who still need a few more classes. Now keep in mind these lists only focus on the attendance not on the technical ability needed to pass the grading. If anyone intends on grading you need to show your techniques to a black belt to confirm if you are truly ready to go into a grading with your current techniques. Just because you have the attendance needed to grade doesn't mean your techniques are up to scratch. If a students name isn't on either of the lists it may be because you do not have enough attendance over the last couple of months. If you have any questions please feel free to ask I'm sorry if I spelt names wrong or if I didn't know your last name Students with the required attendance: Matthew Jones Thomas Jones Abigail Jones Joshua O'connor Denniel Villanueva Adam Camp Jake McQuiggan Beau McIntosh Ryan Koen Maddison Kingsley-warne Siobhan Mckervey Kymberly Fitzpatrick Charlie Warne Prince Sony Dominic Fitzpatrick Veyda Fazel Peyten Yates Pavith W Vivaan Lachlan Plota Elodie Students that still need a few classes before considering grading: Jemma Dixon Emily Vella Bailey Law Vanshika Rathore Ruby Vella Max Haddow Payten Hines Cooper Hines Macauly Bantin Dylan Jones Abby McIntosh Lachlan McIntosh Ivy Vella Lucas Stofmeel

21.01.2022 Hi all, great news we can return to training on the 13th of June. This is not as simple as opening the doors and letting everyone flood back in and start train...ing again, I wish it was thats simple. There are rules and regulations we gym owners need to abide by and I will need to put some new hygiene rules and come up with a new timetable before we can start training again. The students will also need to take responsibility for their own training gear and keeping the gym and the equipment clean and sanitised. In the next day or so I will release a new UFA etiquette and hygiene document we all need to follow. All students will need their own training gear which I will cover in the document and there will be no exceptions if you dont have the gear, you dont train, so you cant forget it. This is an opportunity to make changes for the better both short and long term, to make UFA a safer place to train and learn. Im excited to see everyone back on the mat

14.01.2022 Good morning people, as you are aware I am asking everyone who trains at UFA to have their own sparring and safety equipment. Some components of that equipment ...are gloves and now focus mitts. Since Covid and isolation It has become more apparent that our hands play a huge part in spreading germs and bacteria, so we all should own these items for our own personal hygiene and safety reasons. We have never had any issues using club gloves or focus mitts but as we slide our finger and hands into these item I believe its in everyones best interest to have your own set of gloves and focus mitts. As with a lot of the new hygiene rules we have implemented, this will become common practice and compulsory for everyone who trains at UFA. UFA are now offering Punch brand Gloves and Focus mitts for sale. Punch is one of the best brands on the market today and I am happy to offer their products with a member discount. This doesnt mean you have to buy them from us but its convenient and you will get them at a discounted price. Kids 4oz boxing gloves RRP $39.95 Members price $35.00 6oz boxing gloves RRP $49.95 Members price $40.00 Focus Mitts (same as UFA use) RRP $79.95 Members price $65.00 Adults gloves are available price is pending on size and model. I will be putting in an order friday this week, so if you want your own Punch equipment let Monique know ASAP.

13.01.2022 This just appeared on my Facebook page. I asked for permission to share, so here it is, I will post the wording later. https://youtu.be/pSGe_7IigTQ

11.01.2022 Order must be in by friday

11.01.2022 Let’s keep Covid out of UFA With what appears to be the second wave of COVID hitting Sydney, we all need to insure that we don’t enter the gym if feeling unwell... with flu like symptoms and to increase our own personal hygiene. *Do not enter the centre if you haven’t had your temperature checked at the door. *Make sure you sanitise before entering the centre, the training floor and after any contact. *Insure any equipment is thoroughly wiped down with anti bacterial wipes before and after use. It’s important that we stay focussed and not get complacent with our COVID safety rules. By following these rules hopefully we can continue training in a Covid safe environment.

10.01.2022 Monday classes about to get under way Kids HapKiDo 5:00pm - 6:00pm Combat Class 6:15pm - 7:00pm Adults HapKiDo 7:15pm - 8:15pm ... You need to book in for your classes so dont wait BOOK NOW!!

08.01.2022 Lets keep Covid out of UFA With what appears to be the second wave of COVID hitting Sydney, we all need to insure that we dont enter the gym if feeling unwell... with flu like symptoms and to increase our own personal hygiene. *Do not enter the centre if you havent had your temperature checked at the door. *Make sure you sanitise before entering the centre, the training floor and after any contact. *Insure any equipment is thoroughly wiped down with anti bacterial wipes before and after use. 08.01.2022 Classes at UFA today Kids HapKiDo - Juniors and Seniors 5:00pm Combat Class 6:15pm ... Adults HapKiDo 7:15pm Don't forget to book and please observe the new rules for entry and hygiene

07.01.2022 Being back in the gym is fantastic, if your not back yet What are you waiting for? All the classes since we have returned to live physical training have been gr...eat and its good to see so many students back on the mat and following the rules. 28 kids (split on two floors) in class yesterday show just how eager the kids are to get back into training. As far as I am aware, from the 1st of July there will be further easing of restrictions and hopefully we can return to normal physical training. Most of the hygien and safety measure I put in place will remain, even once the restriction have been lifted. After the 1st of July we will go back to striking shields and pads in Combat and HapKiDo, have normal partner drilling and wrestling in BJJ classes and have self defence and sparring in HapKiDo classes. As of 1st July kids who are Orange belt & above, and adults of all levels (White to Black Belt) will be expected to have your own gloves and focus mitts, plus your own personal safety gear (mouth guard, groin guard, shin instep) for sparring. We will still have gym shields and paddles for use but no gym gloves or focus mitts will be available for use.. As I keep saying, this pandemic has impacted in so many lives, people have lost friends and loved ones, people have lost the jobs and livelihoods but for most of us its been a bit of an inconvenience in our regular lives. Thank you for continuing to support UFA, your loyalty and commitment is appreciated

07.01.2022 An update and reminder of the UFA Martial Arts Academy Covid Safe Plan, procedures and rules. Everyone has been fantastic at sticking to the rules, with the ent...ry, personal hygiene, sanitizing and cleaning (floors and equipment) thank you for doing a great job. We need to make sure we are not becoming complacent and continuing the great job we have been doing, so I am posting the rules and procedures again. Please read it thoroughly to insure you are following the rules and procedures. These rules are for everyone who enters the center regardless of your personal opinion. If you dont understand any of the rules or procedures please ask and if you dont want to follow the rules and procedures then dont enter the center. There are hefty fines for businesses not following the rules and I dont need or want a fine or anyone to contract Covid through the center. So lets take it to the next level and insure our center is a Covid safe place for everyone, thank you.

If we do striking we can wear our gi pants with a T shirt but you will need your own gloves and focus mitts as there is no sharing.. 04.01.2022 I have been working hard to make our zoom classes as intuitive and interesting as possible, I believe I have done this especially with the Adults HapKiDo and Co...mbat classes. Lauren is way ahead of the curve with the kids classes, she and they are doing amazing Combat is now a lot different to the Combat class we were doing before isolation, its all air strikes yes but its faster, more flowing and with a lot of different techniques thrown in, even some jumping and step up knees but most of all its a really good workout. I have just created my own Tabata timer for the warm up exercises with a longer break for those who need it, hopefully it works as intended. Adults HapKiDo I have been working a lot on technique, foot positioning on kicks, hand techniques and even some patterns. I know the students who have participated in these classes have learnt the a lot of technical and valuable aspects which they may not have got in a usual class. I am honestly shocked and disappointed not more students have zoomed in for these sessions, those who havent, have definitely missed out on some valuable instruction. Anyone who thinks they wouldnt learn or wouldnt get a workout are quite mistaken these sessions keep us active and refine our techniques..

04.01.2022 To all Brazilian Jiu Jitsu students, as you are aware we are back training live in the gym next Monday 15th June. There are still social distancing restrictio...ns I need to follow which means we cannot train with partners or wrestle, this includes kids BJJ. This is how we will train till restrictions are lifted; One hour classes with strict hygiene rules only Tuesday and Thursday. Drilling techniques on the grappling dummies or if we have a family member we can drill with them. We will do some MMA training, striking pads, shadow boxing, theory of takedowns and Jiu Jitsu techniques but we need to do all this without grappling each other. You will need your own gloves and focus mitts, the gym gloves and focus mitts will not be available. Its still not an ideal situation but its better then nothing, better then zoom and it will help us get fit again for when the restrictions are eased and we can roll. Please do not ask if you can drill or wrestle another club member because you cant, you just have to wait.. I am hoping the reports of community sport returning 1st July do include BJJ. Keep positive, keep committed and we will be back on the mats trying to choke each other very soon..

04.01.2022 Is UFA Martial Arts Academy a Covid safe school, you bet we are.. We are doing our best to insure everyone who enters UFA can feel confident that we take their... safety with extreme importance. We have put up a lot of signs with helpful information but we have also implemented new systems to create a more hygienic school for everyone. Physical distancing, automated hand sanitizers, antibacteial wipe dispensers, an entry procedure which include a temperature check, mopping the training floors with antiseptic after evey session and reminding everyone to maintain good personal hygiene. UFA was a leader with online classes during isolation and now we are leading the way to a well managed and safe centre for everyone to train in..

01.01.2022 We are excited to let everyone know our classes start back today Kids HapKiDo 5:00pm Combat fitness 6:15pm Adults HapKiDo 7:15pm The centre is ready, we are r...eady, we hope you are ready for training ?? #ufamartialartsacademy See more
