21.01.2022 1/2O have been learning about sustainability and renewable energy and today they investigated how we can use solar energy to cook food. Students worked cooperatively to build solar ovens from pizza boxes (kindly donated by Pure Love of Uki). After much anticipation, everyone enjoyed eating gooey marshmallow and melted chocolate S’mores, cooked to perfection and served up on compostable sugar cane plates. Who knew learning could be so delicious?

20.01.2022 For Parents & Carers of students going to Murwillumbah High School next year, here's a message from the high school: We are looking forward to meeting your Year 6 students who have enrolled at Murwillumbah High School for Year 7 in 2021. Our Orientation Days are most certainly still proceeding on Tuesday 1st and Wednesday, 2nd December (next week) but we are required to reschedule the Parent Information Session. The Parent Information Session was to follow our 9:00am Assembl...y on Tuesday, 1st December but due to Covid restrictions we are still unable to accommodate parents on site in a gathering capacity. Hence we have scheduled a Zoom for 4:00pm on Monday, 30th November for all parents. Join Zoom Meeting https://nsweducation.zoom.us/j/62603548643 Meeting ID: 626 0354 8643 Passcode: 578770 We would like to offer parents the opportunity to ask questions but this is somewhat challenging during a short zoom session therefore we ask that parents please email through any questions they may have to [email protected] before 12:00pm on Monday, 30th November and we will endeavour to respond during the scheduled zoom session.

20.01.2022 This week we had a special visit from Senior Constable Nathan Woods, the Youth Liaison Officer from Tweed Heads Police. Nathan spoke to students from Years 3 - 6 about cyber safety issues and anti-social behaviour and how to deal with these if they occur. He emphasised the most important tool the police use in working with the community and building positive relationships is communication. We all have a role to play in contributing to society and good citizenship is developed from a young age. It begins with honesty, integrity and responsibility, all qualities we strive to instil in our students.

09.01.2022 Maths is always fun in 2/3T! Hands on learning promotes thinking and reasoning, helping students make sense of mathematical ideas. Best of all they love it and are motivated to learn.

06.01.2022 We hope you enjoy this delightful video which is a compilation of individual students from Uki Public School and Murwillumbah Public School. When we couldn’t have rehearsals with the bands earlier this year, we recorded each student playing ‘Mickey Mouse’ and then Mr Keogh and Phoenix put the video together. Thanks to you both... and to everyone who contributed. It’s great!!!

05.01.2022 This week Uki Public School celebrated NAIDOC Week with the theme, Always Was, Always Will Be. On Tuesday the students were divided into multi-aged groups and participated in art, craft, games, history and culture sessions highlighting Aboriginal culture. A highlight of our celebration was the unveiling of signage welcoming visitors into our school in Ngandowal dialect, "Jingi wallah". Students also decorated our new Acknowledgement of Country with leaves painted with Aboriginal designs. During the week our students and families donated nearly 400 books to the charity Books n Boots, which distributes reading materials to remote Indigenous communities. Well done Uki Public School!

04.01.2022 Lest we forget. Remembrance Day Service.

03.01.2022 Lovely, heart-felt presentations from our student leaders today to acknowledge World Teachers’ Day. Our badges read ‘Teachers plant seeds of knowledge that will grow forever’, and, in keeping withe theme, each teacher was presented with a beautiful potted plant.
