22.01.2022 Sometimes people ask why custom framing costs more than a generic Ikea throwaway. Custom framers spend years researching all styles of framing to try capture the essence of a piece. The age of this photo warranted a different shape, aged coloured matboard and silver ornate box frame to bring the viewer back to the 1920's. The box frame was required to accommodate the raised nature of the photo.... Framed correctly the image is preserved for future generations. If you spread the cost out over the lifetime of the frame, the annual cost is minimal. For example, a piece like this could be kept in the family for another 50 years before reframing is required.
