18.01.2022 Community Litter Grants are now open with up to $90,000 available. This is a great opportunity to help keep the litter off our beaches and streets. Do you have an idea that may fit this grant, follow the link below to see more details. If your idea fits the criteria Umina Community Group can help with your application, so please reach out to us. Grant funding is available in two streams: Stream 1: On-Ground litter prevention projects - $4,000 to $40,000... For groups who want to act on a locally identified litter issue at one or more locations Projects in this stream will use proven methods of litter prevention to support the motivation of the community group to reduce litter. Stream 2: Own It and Act partnership projects - $50,000 to $90,000 Projects in this stream will be longer-term strategic state or regional litter prevention initiatives that may not be site-specific. Projects must demonstrate how they build leadership and capacity of community groups to deliver ongoing litter prevention outcomes. Projects in this stream must align with and support the Own It and Act strategic framework developed by the DPIE Litter Prevention Unit. https://www.epa.nsw.gov.au//litter/community-litter-grants

13.01.2022 Don’t forget the Umina Markets are on this morning - Please remember social distancing so we can keep them going

11.01.2022 We had a very successful day of Phase 1 planting at Guyangil Park today. Several hard-working volunteers had a satisfying day of digging, planting and mulching over 400 plants. This was possible because of a federal grant that UCG received in 2019. In time, these plantings should serve to transform a neglected park into a biodiverse haven for our native birds, animals and insects. Thank you to all our helpers. Thank you to the weather gods!

11.01.2022 Transformation for Umina Beach Esplanade The Esplanade at Umina Beach will be transformed into a shared zone that gives priority to pedestrians, and will feature new landscaping, seating, and signage. Adam Crouch MP - Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast & Member for Terrigal has announced that Central Coast Council will receive $327,528 from the NSW Government’s Streets as Shared Spaces program. Between Ocean Beach Road and Trafalgar Avenue, changes will be made ...to The Esplanade so the local residents have more public space to exercise, relax and enjoy. We would like to also acknowledge the support of Taylor Martin - Member of the Legislative Council in this project. This shared zone will provide additional safety for pedestrians, cyclists and children who use The Esplanade to walk/ride along to school each day.

10.01.2022 Well done CWA Umina Beach What would we do without you ladies. #CWAUminaBeach #UminaBeach

08.01.2022 GREAT NEWS.....The demolition and eventual start of the re-development of the Umina Mall (Gateway to Umina Beach), commenced today. It's been a long while coming...but what a great early Christmas present for the Umina Beach community.

08.01.2022 Did you know that Umina Community Group is restoring Guyangil Park in Australia Ave? We look forward to it becoming a biodiversity park to support our local wildlife. How wonderful that we have people giving up their time today to complete the weeding and mulching of stage one. Thank you Umina community!

07.01.2022 Dunecare summer hours commence from Wed Oct 7, 8am - 10am. New volunteers welcome.

06.01.2022 A big thank you to all the volunteers who turned up today for National Tree Day at the Runway Park. Well done GUST Grow Urban Shade Trees for coordinating, Liesl Tesch MP for donation of trees and Central Coast Council. If you would like to volunteer to help us maintain it, through watering and weeding, please get in contact.

01.01.2022 Despite the challenges of 2020, UCG has delivered a very successful dunecare program. Expanding to four sites across the beach with groups running each Wednesday has seen more volunteers and much progress on regenerating the valuable dunes. There are just two more sessions for 2020 Wed 2nd December at Ocean Beach Rd and Wed 9th December at Berith St. We will resume on 3rd February 2021. Thank you to our energetic volunteers and to the council for supporting the program. We look forward to continue seeing you on the dunes. New volunteers are always welcome.
