06.01.2022 UN Youth Queensland Inc. is the Queensland division of UN Youth Australia, a national youth-led organisation that aims to educate and empower young Australians on global issues facing the world. Our broad range of sector-leading peer-education programs educate over 15,000 young Australians each year from across every state and territory. UN Youth Queensland prides itself on recruiting and supporting the best and most passionate of young people. We’re looking for volunteers wh...o will seek to challenge themselves and inspire those around them. The Executive is the management committee of UN Youth Queensland Inc. - responsible for the day-to-day management and direction of the organisation. In addition to managing their own portfolios, each member of the Executive has a responsibility to scrutinize and oversee the organization. Executive members generally meet fortnightly and are expected to be responsive to emails throughout the week. Workload for Executive members will vary, and is sensitive to the ebbs and flows of a university workload, but between their committee work and portfolio commitments, Executive members should expect to spend a minimum of 5-15 hours per week on their role - in addition to any other commitments they choose to take on in the organisation (like facilitation). General executive committee work involves scrutinising budgets, assessing risk, managing the appointment of certain positions, discussing strategy and direction, and providing input on key issues affecting the organisation. As the leadership team of the organisation, most Executive roles require supporting and managing other volunteers and collaborating with other portfolios. As such, our ideal nominees are suited to working in dynamic and professional environments. Importantly, not all positions require experience with the organisation. You do not need to have facilitated with UN Youth to be on the UN Youth Queensland executive. No prior experience with UN Youth, or knowledge of the United Nations, is required. Applicants must be under 25 years of age. This is a fantastic opportunity for those looking to build their administrative experience, and work in a safe environment designed for young people. All necessary training will be provided. Any costs incurred in your duty as a volunteer will be reimbursed. Volunteering with UN Youth Queensland is enormously rewarding - giving you the opportunity to meet young leaders from all across the country and become a part of one of Australia's largest youth organisations. All roles are flexible, and can be managed around study and work commitments. To apply, follow the instructions in this position description document: https://docs.google.com//1BzLmZEd6FVSj0boHjswZJWytzh/edit All applications should be sent to [email protected] and [email protected]

04.01.2022 If there is anything 2020 has shown me, it is that young people not only deserve, but need a seat at the table. I won’t stop until we have that seat. As our c...ommunity navigates the challenges of the pandemic, 2021 Australian Youth Representative, Lucy Stronach, calls for support to amplify the need for youth involvement and engagement in advocacy and decision making. Support Lucy in helping thousands of young Australian’s create just policy priorities and a fairer future: http://bit.ly/australian-youth-representative-to-the-un-2021 #ausyouthrep
