24.01.2022 Thank you to Samantha for volunteering to teach an online community class this morning. Beautiful and clear, direct, nurturing and well paced. We love your presence and your wealth of practice and knowledge at our studio. Lovely to meet your furry friends too. We all weathered through that incredible clap of lightening, rain and thunder during the practice, what excitement. What a ride of changes we had over the past week or so. 24.01.2022 My journey with Iyengar yoga began in 1988 at Kensington School of Yoga, Adelaide, where I found the dedication, creativity, and hard work required of yoga practice a blessing. I was fortunate to have exemplary teachers. I found inspiration and authenticity within the language of the teachings, and the practical exercises offered clarity and ease in my body, my energy, and my life. I was eager from then on to immerse myself in the study and practice of yoga and meditation. Loretta encourages people of all ages and from all walks of life to enjoy the benefits yoga can bring. Yoga helps to develop the mental, physical, and emotional conditions needed for lasting health and happiness. Loretta is committed to creating an environment that supports the growth of everyone’s own practice and needs.

21.01.2022 Salamba Sarvangasana - Shoulderstand supported with a chair and bolster beneath shoulders. This version of shoulderstand can be done if there is restriction of the shoulder region, as it is a restful version with most of the weight supported by the hips on the chair. There is very limited weight and impact for the shoulder or neck area. It is suitable to restore energy, soothe the nervous system, calm the mind and effects the endocrine system, by stimulating the thyroid and pituitary glands at the throat and crown of the head. This inversion is referred to as the 'Mother or Queen Pose' where all systems of the body are soothed, quietened and rejuvenated, as well as the lungs receiving the breath more evenly and fully. This posture is a regular feature in all our classes, with preparation taught in our beginners classes.

20.01.2022 Our new teacher Lilly Slater is now teaching our Monday morning yoga class at 9:30am. Monday morning yoga is a great way to start the week and I am certain that you will be uplifted by Lilly’s natural spark of enthusiasm and interest for the practice and study of yoga. Lilly is also teaching our teenagers class on Monday's at 4:15pm. If your teen may be interested to come and try next term, they can do so FREE for their first class, no obligation. ... 10.01.2022 We commence practice of the baby backbends in our Level 1 classes. Bow pose exercises the shoulders and back, mobilises the whole spine, invigorates and opens our chest, improving and deepening the breath. It gives a good stretch to the front body, the quads, abdomen, chest, throat and shoulders.

07.01.2022 Thursday 6pm has become a popular class time! We have now introduced 7:30pm on Thursdays. Please consider to book for either time with Jacq. Since June the lovely Jacqueline Iles has taught Thursday nights and has thought that her delivery has warranted a change of title to the class, so we have changed the name from Stretch & Restore to Level 1. Jacqueline is delivering a classical Iyengar yoga class structure and method for the beginner to progressive student who attends w...eekly classes. If you are asking whats the difference between class levels and what will suit me, we can say that if you are newish to the practice you will benefit from a Beginners to a Level 1 class. Nontheless, if you are a more experienced practitioner you will enjoy the depth at which you can practice when attending the more basic level class. You receive from the practice what you bring to the practice. Certainly, there is also a difference when you attend a General or Level 2 class, as often there will be opportunity to extend yourself with a broader range of postures and depth of instruction. Iyengar yoga teachers do teach to the group (the students in front of them), and do offer alternatives for those who are not ready for certain postures. So no matter which level you attend you will be catered for and we hope to keep it relevant for all bodies, by getting to know YOU. Since introducing required bookings we have noticed a positive impact for students and teachers alike. ... As teachers we are more fully prepared for individual students and can plan and build on classes week to week.
