21.01.2022 Achieving Fire Performance in Heritage Projects While Maintaining Aesthetics In the recent article on Architecture and Design - https://www.architectureanddesign.com.au//achieving-fire-p - the very real issue of fire performance in heritage listed projects is discussed. For the purposes of Fire Performance, there are two types of structures Historically significant, and those that are not.... New and Existing buildings that are not historically significant, for example, a supermarket, require properly specified and installed Fire Rated systems, however this is purely a matter of financial and safety concerns, for owners, builders and specifiers. 20.01.2022 No airborne nasties! The clean air we all breathe is something we have in common. Whether it be cutting down on C02 emissions, or the public risk of second-hand smoke, keeping the air clean is important. Especially in and around the places we spend a lot of time homes and workplaces. One area where Unitex leads the way, is a range of zero VOC renders and textures. ... What are VOCs? VOCs are Volatile Organic Compounds, carbon-based chemicals that easily evaporate at room temperature. Different VOCs have different health effects, ranging from highly toxic, to less dangerous. Even breathing low levels of VOCs for long periods of time may increase ones risk of health problems. Those of us with breathing issues such as asthma may be particularly at risk with VOC emissions. Typically, wall coatings take 1-3 days to dry, releasing VOCs. With a large percentage of new and renovated buildings being rendered, this presents a potential hazard for young children, and those most at risk.
