25.01.2022 This came across my newsfeed, it’s an old article however has some valuable information. I frequently hear the good old sayings puppies are a blank slate or it’s all in how you raise them. These statements are not necessarily true, while it is important how you raise a puppy there are other factors out of your control that can impact their behavioral traits such as genetics and as highlighted in this article the amount of stress the mother faces while pregnant. Worth a... read if anyone is interested in knowing more. https://www.whole-dog-journal.com//how-a-mothers-stress-/

19.01.2022 Brett signed me up for The May 50K this year - walking or running 50KM during the month of May to raise awareness for Multiple Sclerosis and raise funds for much needed research into the disease. Well walking is something I can do and have previously done a lot of so with the help of Callista and Carlin (and Brett when he isn’t on nightshift) I’ve set myself a personal goal to walk 200km for the month of May! We are over half way already and loving this cooler weather! A li...ttle bit about MS from MS Research Australia: ‘MS is the most common acquired chronic neurological disease affecting young adults, often diagnosed between the ages of 20 to 40 and, in Australia, affects three times more women than men. As yet, there is no cure. There is no known single cause of MS, but many genetic and environmental factors have been shown to contribute to its development. In MS, the body’s own immune system mistakenly attacks and damages the fatty material called myelin around the nerves. Myelin is important for protecting and insulating nerves so that the electrical messages that the brain sends to the rest of the body, travel quickly and efficiently. As the myelin breaks down during a MS attack a process called demyelination patches of nerves become exposed and then scarred, which render the nerves unable to communicate messages properly and at risk of subsequent degeneration. This means that the brain cannot talk to other parts of the body, resulting in a range of symptoms that can include a loss of motor function (e.g. walking and hand and arm function, loss of sensation, pain, vision changes and changes to thinking and memory).’ https://www.themay50k.org/fundraisers/KristyLadewig

18.01.2022 As of Friday the 27th of November Unleashed Pawtential K9 Solutions will no longer be providing pet minding and dog walking services. I started pet minding and dog walking back in 2017 to fund my studies into dog training and canine remedial massage and now almost 4 years later I have decided it is time to shift my business focus to be more in line with what I have been striving for. In 2021 I will be looking into finally starting up a puppy preschool class! This has been a ...goal of mine for a long time and puppy raising and early socialization has been a big part of my focus on my dog training journey. I will be continuing to provide canine remedial massage services to the dogs of Karratha - this is something I am quite passionate about and I love that I am able to help them move better or provide some pain relief. Thank you to everyone that has supported me and continues to support me throughout my journey, I have loved getting to know you and all of your furry family members and they have all taught me so much with their unique personalities and quirks and I will miss them all! Thanks everyone!

10.01.2022 Puppy Preschool I’ve had a few people contact me for more information on puppy preschool. I’m currently looking into suitable venues and aiming to commence my first class March / April this year. Puppy Preschool is for puppies that have not yet had all of their vaccinations and cannot yet go out into the real world. These puppies are in their critical socialization period where it is important that they have positive experiences and are exposed to as many sights, sound...s, smells and textures as they can without risk of infection from the deadly parvovirus. If you have a puppy who has already completed their vaccination schedule and you are looking to get them into group training please join the Karratha and Dampier Dogs page and get in touch with Leah about her next class :)

08.01.2022 ** Puppy Life Skills 1st June 2021 ** I am now taking bookings for the next Puppy Life Skills program commencing 1st of June. Message me your email address or send me an email directly at [email protected] if you would like to register or receive more information.
