25.01.2022 Started on this day in 2006 by Founder Shihan Kayne Dewhurst, Unsu Kai Karate is 14 years old today! We have gone through many changes and challenges through the years, the ones we face right now included. But we are still strong. Not all schools or small businesses last this long, but we are still standing and will continue. The legacy of success created by Shihan and continued with Sensei Stephen will endure; as long as our students want to train, we will be here for you.... Happy birthday Unsu Kai Karate!

Our 6:15pm class will be lead by Shihan as guest instructor. Make sure you are jumping into these classes to benefit from the unique opportunity to learn from our 6th Dan founder, teaching across the world from Cambodia to help us all keep our skills sharp in these testing times. These unique classes are only really possible while we are in this train-from-home scenario and won't be available forever. I'd encourage all students take the opportunity to ask questions, draw from Shihan's knowledge and take your karate to the next level, despite our lockdown.

Mistakes will be made, problems will occur and be handled, rules will change and we will adapt. Everyone has been incredibly patient and understanding, the support we have received from families and students has been wonderful, thank you. 18.01.2022 WE"RE BACK (SOON)! So over the weekend we got the news that indoor sports centres, gyms and the like are allowed to re-open Monday the 22nd of June, thats just 4 weeks away! There is a lot to work out between now and then, especially given classes are restricted to a maximum of 10, and no more than 20 people in the building. Im currently working through the options and will be giving people plenty of warning for when we start back up and what classes and times will look lik...e. Social distncing of 1.5 metres will still be in effect, so no contact or partner work just yet. That particular change could be quite some time away unfortunately. But happily given the size of our Ringwood dojo with only 10 students we will be able to do full kata with room to spare! START YOUR WEEK WITH KATA! Speaking of kata, dont forget our guest instructor Shihan will be taking us through another Advanced Kata class tonight at 6:15pm. We will be delving into kata Kururunfa, one of the more advanced black belt katas in our syllabus. This is definitely one not to be missed. Now we have a date for when classes head back into the dojo, our days of regular study under Shihans expertise are numbered, so you are encouraged to take advantage while you still can. - Monday 6:15pm Advanced Kata with guest instructor Shihan. -Tuesday and Thursday; Beginner & Intermediate at 5:15pm and Intermediate & Advanced at 6:15pm - Thursday Advanced with guest instructor Shihan! - Saturday All grades 9:30am

13.01.2022 Just a reminder if you missed the email update this morning, classes are closed. There are no in-school classes this week. We are in the process of uploading some online classes, but the internet has (not surprisingly) completely choked up and it is not looking great for today. As soon as the first videos are ready well notify all. Please make sure your email address is current and you are getting all the updates. The plan is to hopefully host some live classes tomorrow, str...eaming from the Ringwood dojo. More details to follow soon. Thank you for your patience in these trying times!

13.01.2022 Classes cancelled tonight! So my landline internet has been down for the past 2 hours and it seems to be affecting the mobile as well. Im on H+ basic data, whatever that is, cant get 3G or 4G. Sorry team, I cant run the classes tonight. 05.01.2022 Hi all, a very quick update. We are still open and training, but we know many students are choosing to play it safe at home. Just to let you know: 1. Our classes are going to be following the social distancing recommendations, but keeping up your fitness is super important at these times, so if you can keep training then please do. The current challenges will be with us for a while. 2. We want to help support all our students, no matter what they choose over the months ahead.... To this end well be introducing a bunch of online content to help keep everyone training - this will include tutorials, full lessons - both live and pre-recorded, modules, dedicated fitness and flexibility sessions, kata clinics and more. Lets avoid cabin fever and burn off that excess energy! 3. The next colour belt grading is still proceeding, but it will be modified for 100% no contact, so no sparring. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out and have a chat with me, Sensei Stephen, Im happy to help however I can. We publish a lot of our regular updates through email, so if you arent getting them, please send through your latest email address and we can make sure you stay informed and up to date.
