16.01.2022 Continuing the #letstalk campaign, we are sharing stories from our team and members about how they boost their mood by being active. Here is what David does - Gym Support based at Easter Bush For me, foam rolling in the morning is a great first step in my day! It helps me loosen up any tight muscles (dodgy hamstrings) and makes me feel better able to go about my work, training or general life. This is great for my mental health because feeling physically better puts me in a better headspace, but also the rolling itself is quite relaxing and gives me time to plan out my day mentally while at the same time being physically productive.

16.01.2022 Feeling like clearing the head and taking advantage of the fresh Easter Bush air? Why not join us for a bit of outdoor campus conditioning! We'll be getting stuck into some bodyweight exercises, shuttle runs, core work and more, next Wednesday from 12 to 12.30pm!... It's sure to be a half hour oozing the well-renowned Easter Bush community buzz! More details to come next week.. Stay tuned!

15.01.2022 Trim trail Tuesday ... If anyone on campus fancies some lunchtime headspace, some fresh air and some bad dad jokes meet coach Lucy at the Horse head outside Charnock Building today 1.30pm. Any questions send us a message! #easterbushcampus @thedickvet @roslininstitute

15.01.2022 Hi everyone, my name is Ryan. I am currently based at the Easter Bush Gym but have been a part of Sport and Exercise community for over nine years. I started as an Operations Assistant then became a member of the gym team at Pleasance. I just recently moved to Easter Bush Gym and it has been great getting to know all the staff and students on campus. Some members may recognise me from taking Spin and RPM classes at the Pleasance - I look forward to taking these classes again ...as and when we can! To stay active, I enjoy playing golf with my friends and family, going for a run and now the gym is open, doing some spinning! I wish I had space for a spin bike at home as I would be doing it all the time! I have always liked sport and fitness and take part in karate, football and tennis, all on a competitive and recreational basis. #LetsTalk #WeAreEdinburgh See more

07.01.2022 ‘A Day in life’ of Cuish Since the lockdown started the biggest challenge for me firstly is the change of daily routine for my children who are aged 5 and 2. My wife and I have tried to maintain a structured routine and pattern similar to nursery for them and try to keep them stimulated daily. I have found a whole new level of respect for nursery workers in these first few weeks. Fitness: As always this is hugely important more than ever right now. With no access to gym I hav...e adapted fairly well and maintained the discipline of exercising daily. I started a push up challenge among friends and colleagues on 16th March to complete 100 reps (any way you choose) for 100 days. This will takes us all the way through till June 24th. My thinking was that to set a daily challenge for longer period and hopefully by time we finish we will be once again approaching a sense of normality in life as well as maintained daily discipline throughout (2300 completed so far ) My main routine now alters between one day full body circuit and one day running. The running I’ve found hugely enjoyable to switch off and using Strava app great for logging my distances, times. I’ve dropped the intensity levels I’m used to training as I don’t need to hammer the body particularly hard right now. Relaxation: this likely happens at the end of day once kids are fed and tucked in. All fairly normal to most maybe watch a boxset (Tiger King, Formua 1: Drive to Survive and Sunderland Till I Die all very good). I’ve always got a book on go and have found myself reading much more again. The tv is kept off during ‘working hours’ during day so it is nice to relax for hour or 2 at end of day. Diet: Similar to exercise I’ve tried to maintain good habits. I’ve never been too extreme but try to be mindful what I’m eating certainly during week. In short I always start day with overnight oats and green tea and that I find is ideal start. Lunches and meal times vary but we try to get good balance and cook daily. Coach Cuish’s story now concludes our day in life posts. Thanks to everyone who has contributed, many have greatly enjoyed and benefited from your positive vibes

06.01.2022 Being active has a huge potential to enhance our wellbeing. 06.01.2022 ** New Gym Challenge Alert! ** From next Tuesday 1st - Thursday 10th June we will be running our next big gym challenge - 'The Flying Squatsman' ! Across those 10 days, both at Pleasance and here at Easter Bush, we will be attempting to collaboratively squat the mere 97,000kg weight of the old Flying Scotsman train. With the train famous for its Edinburgh to London journeys, we will be hoping to lift it back onto the tracks for an important trip down to Wembley in the coming ...weeks Participants will have 60 seconds to do as many squats of whatever weight they choose in order to get their total weight score (reps x weight), and this will be added to the overall total! Plus, anyone who takes part will be entered into a draw for a 50 Eleiko voucher! More details to come next week, but we look forward to seeing you all hop on board so we can smash this weight target!

06.01.2022 @xkorekx is back and is dedicated to her training ... At last getting to the training routine, to the heavy weights and some good chats with the people in the gym. Great feeling! ... Thank you for all the feedback so far, we are delighted you’re back, feeling safe and training hard!

02.01.2022 The Easter Bush Trim Trail is finally complete and what brilliant timing as we steer our way through these tricky times. The route circles the beautiful Campus offering panoramic views of the pentland hills. The well paved outdoor trail is an exciting addition for us at Sport as we can continue to promote outdoor physical activity as we wait patiently for gyms to reopen in Scotland. The distance of one lap is 2.5km, making this ideal for either those looking to stretch their legs during a lunch break or it’s a great track for runners who want to blast out a quick 5km running twice round.
