24.01.2022 Earlier this month, 2 September 2020, marked the 75th Commemoration of the End of World War II. Robert Holman (1919-2005) served in the South Pacific during World War II and was a Prisoner of War. He subsequently recorded his reminiscences of both his childhood and the war within several handwritten note books and drawing books which can be viewed via UOW Archives Online: https://archivesonline.uow.edu.au/nodes/view/5386 @illawarraheritage Community .

21.01.2022 Win TV Film Archives now available online! UOW Library Archives is making historical footage from Wollongong’s local Television Station WIN 4 available to the public for the first time. Digitised from the original 16mm film, the first batch of material in the online collection includes news stories from 1967 and reports from the popular local program Sunday Review. The online collection will continue to grow in the coming months as more material is processed and made available. 12.01.2022 May Day celebrations in Wollongong appear to date from 1912 when coal-miners in the district took an unpaid holiday. Mining unionists remained strongly represented on the "May Day Committee" which formed some time later. Its particular function was to organise an annual parade and picnic.
