25.01.2022 With this week's announcement that Melbourne is now in stage 4 restrictions, it is an uncertain and anxious time for many of us. We want to assure everyone that as an essential service, we will continue to operate and provide meals and support for people needing some extra support at this time. We will continue to serve our freshly made, hot takeaway meals with care packages every Monday night in Upwey and Wednesday night in Ferntree Gully from 5.30pm. No need to book.... Delivered home-cooked frozen meals and care packages can also be arranged for residents of Knox and the Dandenong Ranges via our Community Casseroles. We have put this list together with some items we are in need of to continue to expand the production of our meals at this time. 23.01.2022 The past few months have been tough for us all, as we have re-adjusted life in order to slow the spread of COVID 19. We have seen our demand for meals and support skyrocket, so much so that we recently distributed our 10,000th meal since restrictions commenced in March. To put that into perspective, we would normally distribute around 9,000 meals in a year. A huge increase!... We will continue to be there to support our local community who need some extra care at these times. We can only do this with the support of so many great volunteers and locals who donate goods, meals and funds in order to help us keep up with this increase. A reminder that freshly made, hot takeaway meals are available every Monday night in Upwey through our Upwey Community Meal Night - Foothills Community Care and Wednesday night in Ferntree Gully at our Ferntree Gully Foothills Community Care - Community Meals from 5.30pm. 21.01.2022 We have 300 meals requested already for our special Big Father's Day Drive 2020. These meals are available for ANYONE in our local community needing some extra support in these difficult times. Our chefs have put together a great menu to choose from that includes, Roast Lamb, seasonal vegetables with a cheese sauce (GF) Roast Lamb, seasonal vegetables (DF GF) Fish Pie, seasonal vegetables Mushroom Vegetarian Pasta in a cream sauce... 16.01.2022 Have you tried our delicious Foothills Blend coffee beans? They are roasted locally and are certified fairtrade and organic. For a limited time we are able to offer free contactless home delivery to the Dandenong Ranges and Knox areas. Our 1kg bags of beans are freshly roasted. By purchasing our coffee, not only are you helping the farmers involved in its production to receive a living wage, you are also supporting Foothills in providing a helping hand to locals in our community.

15.01.2022 With the recent health restrictions in place to stop the spread of COVID 19 over the next 6 weeks, we wish to inform everyone that we will still be operating our Upwey Community Meal on Mondays and our Ferntree Gully Community Meal on Wednesdays. This is important as we still want to provide freshly cooked, hot nutritious takeaway meals for locals in need of an extra hand during these times. However, in order for us to continue safely for everyone and to abide by the new rest...rictions in place, we ask everyone to follow these guidelines: * Please do not come before 4pm. * We operate on a ticket system, you will be given a ticket when you arrive and called inside in the order of your ticket number from approx 5.30pm. * Please respect each person and keep at least 1.5 meters away from everyone at all times. * Please do not gather outside the door. * If you are sick, please DO NOT come. * Please only take what you need, and consider others. Failure to abide by this will mean that we will need to close down our services. We want to keep EVERYONE safe during these times. This will ensure that we can continue to support everyone in the safest way possible. Thankyou

11.01.2022 Over the past few Monday nights, we have continued to provide meals at our Upwey meal night. Our dining room may be closed, but that hasn't stopped us producing our usual healthy, nutritious and delicious meals to distribute as hot takeaway meals. We also continue to offer fresh food parcels. Both are now served at our NEW TIME OF 5.30pm. All are welcome to attend and be provided with healthy food in good company. 08.01.2022 Foothills Community Care - Community Meals and Community Casseroles are very excited to announce we've partnered with Red Coral Seafood for an amazing Mothers Day event -The Big Mothers Day Drive 2020! The Big Mothers Drive 2020 will deliver a chef-cooked meal and luxury pamper pack to 500 recipients in outer eastern Melbourne in time for Mothers Day. Nominations or requests for a meal can be registered at www.foothillscare.org.au Donations to support the work of Foothills an...d its associated program Community Casseroles, are also being collected via the website. Food donations and opportunities to raise funds have decreased, while demand for the free take-way and home delivered meals Community Casseroles and Foothills Community Care provide, has skyrocketed from 200 to 600 meals a week and growing. With tourism in the area closed, local workers and businesses are experiencing increasing hardship. Thanks to Red Coral Seafood and the social enterprise SecondBite for food donations. Pinchapoo will be providing luxury pamper packs to go out with the meals. Leading Australian chefs, including Dylan Kemp, Chef of the Year in 2019, Telina Menzies and Chris Taylor have volunteered to cook the meals. Recipients of the strictly limited meals will be contacted directly to confirm they will receive the meal and pamper pack

Last night our angels made these beautiful Swedish meatballs and seasonla veggies, all made with rescued food. Thanks to all who make these possible.

This week we received some amazing donations! 6kgs of gnocchi From I like too much and a whole box of broccoli from Big Watermelon Bushy Park!! Thanks so much to you both! 02.01.2022 The good news is that we are open tonight for fresh food parcels and takeaway meals. Please follow the new government rules of only being in public with 2 people and practising safe distancing for the safety of all. Please do not congregate together, we will call people individually into the hall for parcels and let people know when the meals are ready. Failure to adhere to this will mean that we get shut down.
