10.01.2022 If you’ve been enjoying artist Ralf Haertel’s exhibition on the Up York Gallery walls check out the story behind it... Journeyman - see through me, see through you... Journeyman is an interactive / collaborative project by Launceston based artist Ralf Haertel, initially undertaken as a series of natural dye workshops as part of the artist’s travels in Tasmania and Europe during 2016, leading to an exhibition at Sawtooth Gallery in August.... Haertel invited other artists to interpret photos from his journeys onto canvases laminated with the silk dyed on those journeys, with the completed works acting as a kind of visual conversation documenting aspects of the journey. The completed set of over 30 artworks was reassembled under the title See through Me for the last week of the exhibition at Sawtooth, and also shown as part of the REVIVE Sustainable Art Tasmania exhibition at QVMAG later that year. During August 2020 selected works from the Journeyman collection will be installed at Up York, with the exhibition changing weekly. Each week one or more unpainted panels will be included in the line up, which the artist will in turn work on during the course of that week, creating new artworks for the collection, and continuing the conversation. For purchase, trade or commission enquiries, please contact Ralf Haertel ralfwhynot@hotmail or via Facebook/ Messenger.
