21.01.2022 We were very sad to hear of the recent and sudden passing of our friend and colleague Peter Anderson. Peter worked closely with UQ Art Museum to curate our 2016 exhibition ‘ephemeral traces’, exploring Brisbane’s artist-run scene in the 1980s. Despite residing in Melbourne, Peter’s cultural and art historical feet were always firmly in Queensland and this exhibition contributed to previously undocumented aspects of Queensland’s art history story, which were both fascinating a...nd important. Peter had a vastly ranging mind that constantly questioned relationships between people, histories and ideas. He was always excited about what he was learning, discovering and uncovering through his research project for ‘ephemeral traces’. Peter was incredibly articulate. He had an amazing capacity to speak about issues and ideas in an engaging way, but he was also humble and always open to the suggestions and ideas of others. He was a genuine, knowledgeable and warm person to collaborate with. We’re grateful for the time we spent with Peter in the UQ Art Museum context and recognise his enormous contribution to the sector more broadly. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Peter’s family, colleagues and friends.
