25.01.2022 Tomorrow our new members will finally be launching their projects! Over the past months they have been working through each subsystem, with a final rocket as a result. 25.01.2022 Failures are as much (if not more) a part of our story as the successes are! While we got to take home two amazing awards at the AURC we also had to say goodbye to Project Minerva. Interestingly, this failure will probably teach us more than any successful launch would, showing us variables that we would have otherwise not encountered, and teaching us engineering methods that we usually only learn the theory of. ... There is a lesson in every failure, and while it is disappointing to lose a project we worked very hard on over the past year, we want to highlight exactly how complex this job actually is. Over the next weeks, we will be investigating every possible failure mode and component in great detail, which should help us create even better projects in the following years! #notafraidtofail

20.01.2022 Recent measures implemented by The University of Queensland and the Australian Government in regards to COVID-19 will change the way we work over the coming months. In response to these measures, UQ Space has made the decision to suspended all practical activities until further notice, to ensure the safety of not only our team, but all those around us. Unfortunately, this includes postponing our monthly launches, workshops, outreach activities and events. Instead, all our 100...+ team members will be working online, where we will continue our meetings, design reviews, competition reports and some amazing new research tasks. This decision is not easy, but has the best interest of our team at heart. We encourage all of our supporters, team members and greater community to keep up to date and to continue to follow the guidelines and suggestions of The University of Queensland, Queensland Health, and the Australian Government. We would also like to remind everyone to practice good hygiene and take care of yourselves and others. If you are feeling anxious or worried about the current situation or your health please make sure to contact any of the below: - https://about.uq.edu.au/coronavirus-advice-uq-community - https://www.health.gov.au/ - UQ Health Care (St. Lucia): (07) 3365 6210 - Coronavirus Health Information Line: 1800 020 080 Stay healthy and safe, and remember to be mindful of yourself and one another. While the processes in which we conduct our work may have changed, work hasnt stopped!
