25.01.2022 Huge congratulations to Crystalbrook Collection and Prime Constructions QLD on the Bailey Hotel.. It looks great! We are very proud be a contributing member of the project team Looking forward to the grand opening in early November.

24.01.2022 Stuart has over 15 years experience as a town planner in Cairns. Achieving the right outcomes for his clients has always been his primary goal and was the driving force behind him establishing Urban Sync. There is a human factor required for most jobs, even when there is a seemingly black and white situation. We know that a no, isnt necessarily the end of the road. Finding solutions to complex situations, is what the team at Urban Sync does best.

24.01.2022 Like you all, Urban Sync has been following the COVID-19 outbreak closely. Following the escalation over the past few days, we wanted to update you on our current status and approach. Our top priority is to take care of our people and support our clients, ensuring we continue to provide a service to our clients, while working safely. Currently it is business as usual, but we have business continuity processes in place so our team can continue to work remotely should the need arise. We are aiming for business as usual throughout this trying time. Your projects are important to us and we remain committed to supporting and responding to your needs through this period to keep your planning stages on track.

The Policy term extends from 12 August 2020 until 30 June 2022 and applies to eligible development that commences construction during the policy period and ...completes at least 80% of the project value during the Policy period. If you would like to find out if you are eligible for this development incentive, please feel free to contact our team on (07) 4051 6946 or email us on [email protected]

22.01.2022 Urban Sync celebrated Melbourne Cup in style yesterday at Riley, a Crystalbrook Collection Resort. Amazing location, great atmosphere and a whole lot fun!

21.01.2022 Interesting to see where this appeal and its far-reaching outcomes will take us.

21.01.2022 Getting approval to commence work is very different to the management of a project. Naturally, you can’t start anything until you’ve got all of the relevant approvals. If you do, you could be in for some lengthy (not to mention costly) delays. As with a lot of things in life, you not only need to know which forms to complete or applications to lodge, it’s just as important to have strong relationships with the decision makers so you can answer any questions and put forward your case with confidence. If the thought of the administration mountain fills you with dread, speak to us today on 4051 6946 to find out how we can take that stress away from you and usually, reduce the financial investment compared to going it alone.

21.01.2022 From our families to yours, we wish you all a wonderful Christmas and a safe and happy new year. Urban Sync will be closed for the holidays from Friday the 20th of December and will reopen Monday the 6th of January.

20.01.2022 In response to the COVID-19 pandemic the Queensland Government have made urgent amendments to Queenslands planning legislation. As part of these amendments, any person will be able to apply for a Temporary Use Licence* to change or vary existing development approval conditions, or other operating constraints, which may prevent them from operating during the declared event. The new Temporary Use Licence arrangements recognise that businesses may need to innovate or change ho...w they operate in unprecedented circumstances. If you think that this applies to you, please contact our office on (07) 4051 6946 or by email at [email protected] and we would be happy to discuss the options available to you. *Note: A Temporary Use Licence authorises the use of premises within the jurisdiction of the Planning Act 2016 and does not remove the need to obtain any other approvals that might be required by local, state and/or Commonwealth jurisdictions.

20.01.2022 The team at Urban Sync had a great afternoon at Flynn on Melbourne Cup day! We dusted off our party clothes and took our heads out of our town planning lives, to spend some time away from the office. It was also a chance to get to know Ainsley, our new Operations Manager who joined us recently. Welcome aboard! We’ll be telling you more about Ainsley soon. What better place to spend time than in one of the very places we helped to shape. Looking good team (and Flynn)

19.01.2022 Urban Sync staff were some of the almost five hundred attendees at The Cairns Post: Future Tourism event held at the Cairns Convention Centre on Wednesday. The program included presentations from speakers, demographer Bernard Salt and TTNQ chief executive Mark Olsen. Before Tourism Minister Kate Jones and Entrada CEO John Thorburn joined the speakers for a panel discussion hosted by Cairns Post editor Jenifer Spilsbury. The event highlighted many of the strengths possessed ...by Cairns on a local and international stage, as well as the areas where opportunities for growth are present. Amongst the discussion topics were the; can-do Cairns attitude, requirement of remarkable experiences to seasoned travellers, state governments $3.8 million funding boost for the region, and what further sustainable income is required. Despite Cairns facing a difficult period currently and for the near future due to the Coronavirus outbreak and the associated boarder shutdowns, the broader future looks bright with plans to cement Cairns place as a regional centre with an international gateway and a jewel of Tropical North Queensland.

12.01.2022 As our populations continue to grow, the concept of high-density cities will start to become a reality in our regional centers. Before this happens though, serious thought, planning and consultation must be put into the greening of the city. Providing usable recreation and green spaces in our urban communities has many benefits. As well as the good health outcomes for people residing in these areas, research has shown that these green spaces support many native animals, prov...ide passive recreation and lead to safer neighbourhoods. Our own James Cook University researchers recently concluded an 18-month study of our City with the results showing that the temperature was a startling 3 degrees cooler under our beautiful large fig trees around the CBD. Local Area Planning and Urban Design provide practical approaches to the delivery of green space in urban form. We need to work collaboratively across multiple sectors to ensure our green cities are well designed, maintained and most importantly benefit the entire community. What are your thoughts? Do you think Cairns is doing this well, should we be doing more and if so, how it could be done better? https://theconversation.com/higher-density-cities-need-gree

05.01.2022 The Urban Sync team are very happy to have been a part of the Woolworths Local Centre Project located in Trinity Beach, Cairns. We are even more pleased that our client (Fabcot) has received a successful decision from the Planning &Environment Court last week that will generate economic activity and employment for the Cairns Region. Urban Sync provided Town Planning and Approvals Management across multiple disciplines that resulted in qualified support for the developmen...t in late 2018. An appeal by the applicant against conditions imposed by Cairns Regional Council and also dealing with other submitters concerns resulted in longer delays. It has been long process for Woolworths, but the result of more local jobs and convenience for our Northern Beaches residents is a huge win. #townplanning #approvalsmanagement #UrbanSync https://www.cairnspost.com.au//cb685e0c2fecdcbefca0c0eccfb

03.01.2022 Do you know how much our Director loves golf? Enough to sponsor a hole! Urban Sync are the proud sponsor of the 8th hole at the Cairns Golf Club. We think Matt and Justin would prefer Stuart sponsors the 19th, but hey the 8th will have to do!

03.01.2022 The term ‘granny flat’ came about following the decline of the need for a ‘dower house’ which is a smaller property in the grounds of a larger property, that the widow (usually) would move into so the heir and family could make the larger house, their home. Usually, the widow was a grandmother, hence the term ‘granny flat’ evolved. These days, there are far more appealing names for them as well as uses. From studios to guest accommodation, these tiny houses have experienced a... surge in popularity. You can build one without council approval in Queensland if it is for someone who is a member of the family and already living on the property. Thinking of extending your property? Call us today on 4051 6946 to find out how we can help.

01.01.2022 As house prices continue to rise, pushing development further into outlying suburbs, forward thinkers Architect Amy Degenhart and her company bubbl(up) are designing creative solutions to curb this trend. bubbl(up) are creating micro homes. Taking neglected properties in desirable locations and transforming them into affordable, architecturally designed urban villages, allowing homeowners to balance the advantages of owning their own land with the benefits of a central lif...estyle. This micro home approach delivers similar levels of density to townhouse or apartment developments - without the height- and allows buyers to live in the middle of the action rather than in disconnected suburbs. Their flagship project, ENVI Micro Urban Village in Southport Gold Coast, transformed a single ordinary lot into 10 freehold micro-lots and earnt bubbl(up) the 2019 UDIA QLD award for excellence in affordable small-scale development. Do you think this the way of the future to curb the urban sprawl? Curious to learn more?
