23.01.2022 SAPPHIRE ASSISTANT COACH ANNOUNCEMENT Thunder is so happy to welcome back Garry Pashen to the Sapphire coaching team in 2021. Having served as head coach for USC Thunder the past 2 years, as well as experience working as assistant coach with Queensland Fusion and the Queensland State teams, Garry also brings his wealth of experience as a former player who played for and captained the Queensland and Australia Men’s Netball team for nearly 20 years.... Garry will balance his Assistant coaching duties with his role as Head Coach and Open Mens coach of the Queensland Suns Mens and mixed Netball teams in 2021. #uscthunder #feelthethunder

Come and be part of the elite Thunder program, and take your netball to the next level in Queensland’s premiers state league competition. This season we have two ways to register for selections, so please read carefully. THUNDER SCREENING Any athlete who has never played ruby or sapphire (or any state league equivalent ) before must register and attend our prescreening selections. Thursday 14th January 5pm - 8pm USC stadium You Must be turning 16 or older in 2021 to be eligible. Successful athletes will be invited to our thunder selections on Sunday 17th Jan. 07.01.2022 PERFORMANCE COACH ANNOUNCEMENTS USC Thunder will have our athletes fit and ready to go with the appointment of both a Head of Performance and an Assistant Performance coach to ensure our players receive personalised and elite level programs to prepare them for The Queensland Ruby and Sapphire series competition. We welcome back Max McKenzie as Head of Performance in 2021.... Max has been a part of Thunder since its inception into the Sapphire Series Competition. Max holds his Masters in High performance sport and is currently completing his doctorate of Philosophy at USC while managing working across USC Thunder, Sunshine Coast lightning, Spartans Swimming and Queensland Rugby programs. Joining Max we welcome to the Thunder family Jodie Tully Jodie is an accredited ASCA strength and conditioning coach completing her Bachelor’s of sport and exercise Science with 13 years coaching experience, specialising more recently in Elite Development program for women. Jodie brings great passion and energy to the role and experience working with elite female athletes across a wide range of sports. Welcome Jodie. 01.01.2022 SAPPHIRE HEAD COACH ANNOUNCEMENT USC Thunder are excited to announce Jess Whitfort as the Sapphire Head Coach for 2021. Relocating to the coast at the start of 2020 with her family, Jess has been a part of the Netball Victoria pathway working as head coach in the Victorian Netball League competiton the past 4 years, as well as working in the Australian Netball League with Victoria Fury the past 2 years, and part of the coaching team that took out the 2019 Australian Netball... League Grand Final. Jess has also worked across multiple State team programs in both Victoria and Queensland, as well as working as the Capital Darters assistant coach this year before Covid cancelled the 2020 ANL Championships.. I am so excited to be stepping into the role at Thunder. The Sunshine coast is brimming with talent and this is a club with strong connections to its member associations and Sunshine Coast Lightning, offering a complete pathway and genuine opportunities for our staff and athletes to continue to build a strong and competitive club that fosters its elite talent. #feelthethunder #uscthunder
