21.01.2022 If your family is like my family, the games cupboard is getting quite the workout while we are at home, especially as we are trying to keep some semblance of school holidays during COVID-19 restrictions. #iso #stayathome #selfisolate We have enjoyed games that haven't been played in a long time as well as games that are probably for younger children but have entertained us to no end, especially as we make up new rules to suit ourselves! There is even a tally being kept with ...serious family discussions/negotiations as to what the final prize will be at the end of our isolation journey. I hope you too can find some time to enjoy family moments over a board game, jigsaw, cards, etc Oh, and snacks are COMPULSORY while playing! And remember, if you need help to structure your day or to answer any questions... You can Use My Time! Andrea

19.01.2022 How are you all doing? At the moment, everyone is at a different stage of remote learning and everyone's experience is going to be different. But the one consistent thing with every family is that your children will have questions about the Covid-19 situation and communication is key right now. I heard part of a radio interview with a Melbourne Child Clinical Psychologist (apologies that I didn't get her name) and these were the important points I took away... * Don't be afra...id to talk about the current situation * Children are egocentric and will just worry about their own 'patch' * Reassure with them facts that are age appropriate * Keep it honest but don't overwhelm them with information * Make it a 2-way dialogue so that you listen, ask as well as tell each other your thoughts, questions and concerns I also found this chart (Credit: WeAreTeachers) which I thought was helpful for you to start the dialogue with your family. And remember, if you need help to structure your day or to answer any questions you can... Use My Time! Andrea See more

02.01.2022 So let's talk about toilet paper! It has been quite the topic of discussion these past few weeks, hasn't it? Everyone is hopefully stocked up and sorted and probably using it up more than usual during this self-isolation/quarantine time. But.....what to do with ALL the empty toilet rolls I hear you ask? Well....get out the scissors, glue sticks, sticky tape, paper, box of odds & ends, anything at all and get creative.... @PamelaSnow2 shared on Twitter the photo below of her grandchildren making the characters for Julia Donaldson's picture book 'Room On The Broom' (think The Gruffalo) Here is a link to more great ideas. https://www.brightstarkids.com.au//20-diy-toilet-paper-ro/ And if you need help to structure your day or to answer any questions remember ... you can Use My Time!

01.01.2022 Term Two...here we go!! Teaching and schooling will look a little different this term and everyone is on a major learning curve. Be assured your school and your child/children's teacher/s will be doing their very best to make it the most positive learning opportunity it can be for everyone during this unusual time.... As parents, your role will be to support your child/children as best as you can...you don't have to become a teacher overnight! They will be well guided by their schools. Useful tips to be ready, organised and to relieve some possible stress... *set up a comfortable and tidy learning space in an open area if possible so everyone can stay connected and engaged *have a planner or timetable so everyone knows what the expectations are each day and for the week *have a reward system to keep everyone on task and to encourage good learning habits This is a big change for all involved so be kind to yourselves, don't be afraid to make mistakes and ask for help if needed. Just like they say on tv... "we are all in this together" and "you've got this" And remember, if you need help to structure your day or to answer any questions... You can Use My Time! Andrea
