24.01.2022 This is an amazing opportunity for regional USQ Law students. Shine Lawyers Dalby is offering a four-week paid clerkship program from 18th January 2021 until 12th February 2021. They are looking for law students in their penultimate year of study in 2020, moving into their final year in 2021, who are client-focused, enjoy a high performance work environment, and have well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.... A clerkship at Shine Lawyers will give you insight into a large ASX-listed plaintiff litigation law firm, and will ensure you are well-positioned for any future graduate programs they offer. Your four-week clerkship will commence with a one-day orientation program, where you will engage with several of our senior lawyers and learn more about Shine, their clients, and some significant and ground-breaking cases they've run. 20.01.2022 This time of the year is an exciting time! Whether you have finished university for the year, possibly even completed your degree, or studying during semester 3, it is an exciting and busy time. For many though, it can also be a little bit stressful. With semester 2 results released today for most students, I have no doubt that today was a nerve-racking day. It is important to reflect on your feelings and take some time to check in with yourself to ensure that you do not burn... yourself out. The College of Law has provided us with some really great resources to help you manage your wellbeing throughout the semester while completing assignments and exams, and finding out your results on release days. Some of these resources include: - E-GUIDE: Wellness to Law Guide: Maintaining Your Wellbeing During COVID-19. In this 'how-to' guide Desi Vlahos, Andrea Phillips and Florence Thum lend their expertise to help you navigate remote learning while maintaining your health and wellbeing. - WEBINAR: How To Bounce Forward After Knockbacks. This Webinar will equip you with strategies for overcoming challenging situations - whether it be disappointing grades, missing out on your dream job or managing remote learning. - Webinar: Managing Your Wellbeing During COVID-19. The webinar was held on 1 June 2020 but a replay is available in which you can learn some practical advice for overcoming stressful situations. All of these resources and more can be found at the College of Law website (https://www.collaw.edu.au/resources) and are a great source of helpful tips for ensuring that you are keeping yourself well. Be proud of your achievements, whether they seem big or small, and take some time to appreciate yourself and how hard you have worked. You've got this!

09.01.2022 The Ipswich District Law Association (IDLA) has kindly informed us and extended an invitation to the Women Lawyers Association of Queensland's (WLAQ) Ipswich Women in Law Lunch next month. Given the Christmas period, it is likely that the WLAQ lunch will be held on Friday 18 December (however is dependant on numbers). These lunch events are a great way to network and champion the issues women face in the legal profession. Please contact Annette directly if you would be available on 18 December and she will be able to make any necessary arrangements. If you would like to attend please email Annette at [email protected].

08.01.2022 For personal reasons our wonderful Vice-President for Ipswich, Stephanie, has resigned from her position. On behalf of the USQLS, we would like to take this time to applaud and thank Stephanie for her years of work within the team. We are so appreciative of all of the work, time and dedication she has given to the USQLS and for being such an active member of our team. We would not have achieved so much of what we have without her incredible commitment and enthusiasm in her po...sition. We are sad to see her step down but we look forward to seeing where her journey takes her and to watch her blossom not only in her studies as a student but as a person. Stephanie, we are so appreciative of everything you have done in your years involved in the USQLS. We wish you the best of luck and happiness moving forward and are eagerly excited for seeing what you do next! Thank you for your compassion, integrity, kindness, support, teamwork and friendship. With all of this being said, the USQLS is now open to nominations for the position of Vice-President Ipswich 2021 and will close on 14 December 2020. Voting will then commence on 22 December 2020 and will be open for 48 hours. An outline in detail of the position can be found in the constitution on the USQLS website (www.usqls.org.au).
