25.01.2022 Hello! It's another week and the Res-life weekly is in your inbox! In this newsletter, we talk about Exam web seminars, the student experience survey and the PVC Awards Night.

24.01.2022 Hello Yannadah! As part of Mental Health Month, we want to ensure you are aware of some of the resources available to you should you need it. Today I wanna talk about Beyond Blue - an organization that offers assistance to all of us and the support they can offer you now or in the future. Over 75% of mental health issues occur before the age of 25 and 80% of all Uni students will face mental health issues at some point in their university experience. You are not alone! There ...are programs, resources and people who can and will help you navigate the stormy seas of mental un-wellness. They also have forums which you can post to- both in seeking support or offering it. Helping others in their blue moments can really help to get you through your own blue moments and beyond them. Be sure to click on the link and discover all that Beyond Blue can offer you and those you love and care for. https://www.beyondblue.org.au/who-does-it.../young-people See more

23.01.2022 This week, the newsletter becomes residence specific, that means all the important updates and information you need is all in the one place. 23.01.2022 Tune In -Day 2: Write Your Thoughts Down A helpful way to sort through your jumble of thoughts is to write them down. All of them: the good, the bad, the ugly. Acknowledging the thoughts or dialogue you are holding in your head is an effective way to help you release them from continuing to kick around and keep you focused solely on that internal voice. We all find venting can be a great way to blow off steam or de-stress about a person or event in our life we might feel frus...trated by. Keeping a mental health journal is a way to vent all that personal thoughts and feelings you experience but may not want to share. We’re not talking a novel here- even just a few short lines in a stream of consciousness style can be done in just a few minutes a day. This can be a particularly effective method if you are the prone to overthinking late at night and robbing yourself of sleep and peace. Writing down your worries and anxieties before bed can allow your brain the reassurance that you’ve acknowledged those thoughts and let you get some rest. If you worry about dwelling on your thoughts once you’ve written them down, consider burning them (safely and not in your house) or shredding them. There is something very powerful about writing down what is bothering you and then destroying it... like it takes some of the weight and burden off your shoulders.

21.01.2022 Merry Christmas! We hope you are staying safe and well during the festive season. Wishing you, your families and your friends a Christmas full of joy, peace and hope

01.01.2022 Tune In - with Mental Health Awareness Month’s theme being Tune In, I wanna touch on the magic of music. Music is a universal language. It can make you feel joy, pain, sorrow or hope. Try watching a movie without that all important soundtrack and see if you have the same response without the music to help guide you through a scene. Music is powerful. It can bring you down or raise you up. What type of music do you reach for when you are feeling low or depressed or full of a...nxiety? What type of music hypes you up for a night out or makes cleaning your room more like a mini concert than drudgery? Drop the music below that moves you and be in the draw to win a Spotify Premium e-gift card. https://youtu.be/PIGsxN87MEE
