13.01.2022 Meet Adam UTS Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science grad! Adam started his journey as a strength and conditioning coach in the military before joining UTS. Today, hes applying his undergrad experiences to the Master of Physiotherapy He says: Some of the subjects, like neuroscience, sports medicine, exercise physiology had a direct carry-over to physio in terms of basic knowledge like physiology We also learnt how to program correctly, how to rehabilitate someone corre...ctly. What else is essential to master as an aspiring #physiotherapist? The course also really emphasised communication skills, which is very important in physiotherapy in regard to patients and clients. You have a direct ability to change both physical & psychological outcomes for clients which will influence their health and happiness in the short and long-term. To me, that is extremely rewarding. As someone that wants to work in emergency or intensive care, I chose the Critical Care specialty and this was by far my favourite subject! I found it fascinating to dive... deeper into the nursing skills and knowledge required to care for people who are critically unwell. I learnt about intubation and ventilation, external ventricular drains, arterial lines, arterial blood gas interpretation and more! 03.01.2022 "I like to help others in the best way that I can, whether that is in a clinical health setting or in an elite sport setting. Using my knowledge to assist someone who is recovering from injury or stroke, or working with athletes to help them achieve their goals is what I am passionate about. Studying this degree has changed my view on health. When I speak to people, and tell them that I want to study physiotherapy, they often automatically think about elite athletes. It doesn...’t occur to them that the general population also needs physiotherapy in emergency departments, in hospitals, in rehabilitation centres. So, studying this degree has widened my view of how far an impact I can have on people." ~ Jesse (Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Management, 3rd Year) See more of Jesse's #sportandexercise story: https://bit.ly/3kgDQXn #heartsofhealth #utshealth

I have had the opportunity to speak at the Australian College of Midwives National Student Conference about issues that matter to me and facilitate real change. Conversely, I have also learnt how to deal with problems. I have learnt to be calm and... level-headed in emergency situations.
