17.01.2022 NAIDOC Week is held every year to recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, bringing together all Australians in support of local Indigenous communities. This year, NAIDOC Week is focussed on the theme Always Was, Always Will Be. Always Was, Always Will Be acknowledges that Australia’s story did not begin in 1788. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders were Australia’s first engineers, farmers, fishermen, scientists, diplomats..., astronomers; building the foundations of today’s Australia. NAIDOC Week 2020 invites all Australians to embrace, and reflect on the rich, 65000 year old history of our nation. In acknowledging the custodial lands upon which we work upon, it is necessary to both recognise and reflect on the history of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. The UTS LSS encourages students to engage with NAIDOC Week through initiatives available on the NAIDOC website or to reflect on the topic of Indigenous Justice. You can find the NAIDOC website here: https://bit.ly/NAIDOCWeekGetInvolved Students will receive 5 ROJ to write 350 words or present a video which links to this years’ theme: ‘Always Was, Always Will Be’.
