24.01.2022 What wonderful photos!

23.01.2022 Great interview with Juan Ford - a passionate environmentalist, this theme pervades his hyper realistic paintings.

23.01.2022 Sarah Sze includes cheap, everyday objects, connecting the work to contemporary consumer culture. But Seamless also refers to art historical sources from the early twentieth century. Its structures and shapes relate to constructivism, abstract art that reflected the modern industrial world. And by using the colours red, blue and yellow, Sze recalls De Stijl.

23.01.2022 Hobson has brought together 70 artists from across Australia for Piinpi at Bendigo Art Gallery. The survey is a testament to the breadth and diversity of this space right now, and includes wearable art and sculpture, runway fashion, streetwear, textile design, jewellery and more.

21.01.2022 How wonderful is this etching? Since the 1950s, Paula Rego has played a key role in redefining figurative art in the UK and internationally. An uncompromising artist of extraordinary imaginative power, she has revolutionised the way in which women are represented.

20.01.2022 A public art exhibition on billboards inspired by George Orwell’s dystopian Ministry of Truth

19.01.2022 Brilliant news - lets hope we can get down there to see it!

19.01.2022 Great article on the new Know My Name exhibition - For the NGA, the new exhibition is "a very public demonstration" of a deeper commitment throughout the institution to feature more women, after curators discovered only 25 per cent of its collection was by female artists. For an institution made up of overwhelmingly female staff members, that statistic was unacceptable. Anyone planning on seeing it?

19.01.2022 Whether opulent or minimalist in style, the houses that Jana Sophia Nolle photographs are displays of wealth. Plush rugs cover hardwood, hardback editions line built-in bookshelves, and tall windows reach from floor to ceiling. Even the stark rooms with few sculptures and seats signify a choice, rather than a necessity, and demonstrate the ability to furnish a room with just significant objects. Within these residences, though, Nolle reconstructs a contrasting shelter to illuminate a growing disparity.

18.01.2022 Latest Brook Andrew is exhibition is on now. Brook presented a keynote talk at the VADEA Conference 2018 and was director of this years Biennale.

18.01.2022 While Sherman has experimented with male characters before, such as in her Doctor and Nurse and History Portrait series, she has never shown an entire group of male characters like she does in her new show at Metro Pictures. The exhibition features 10 photographs of the artist posing as men, occasionally escorted by a female counterpart, and each wearing accentuated attires in front of landscapes the artist photographed during her recent travels.

17.01.2022 Join us next Wednesday to learn about the VADEA Professional Learning & Research Grants which support innovation in visual arts teaching and learning, to inform classroom professional practice and conference papers, and provide a platform for current and emerging research in the field of visual arts education and curriculum policy development. The VADEA Grants Program has been extended to ensure a greater flexibility around what you might be planning to do in the future and ...how we might support initiatives you may be working towards in your planning for 2021. Historically, VADEA grants have supported artist in residence programs, across school Visual Arts initiatives and in-school Visual Arts programs that showcase new initiatives in Visual Arts teaching and learning programs. Previous grant recipients have supported educational growth in Visual Arts education and inspired members. 17.01.2022 A fantastic article on the practice of Zhou Wenjing, who in 2011 discovered her mother was forcibly sterilized soon after her birth. Ever since, the young artist has been exploring how China’s birth-control policies have affected the country’s women.

15.01.2022 Did you manage to catch Zanele Muholi’s work at the Sydney Biennale? Striking and powerful portraits.

15.01.2022 Discussing art restoration with students is always fascinating, especially when you have students compare the Mona Lisa with the Prado Mona Lisa which has been cleaned and restored. Their reactions to the Prado version is vastly different to the original and there is a great discussion to be had about art restoration.

14.01.2022 The sentiment is great- teachers who are passionate about the discipline which underpins their subject area is vital!

14.01.2022 Sofia Crespo describes her work as the natural history book that never was. The Berlin-based artist uses artificial neural networks to generate illustrations that at first glance, resemble Louis Renard’s 18th Century renderings or the exotic specimens of Albertus Seba’s compendium.
