25.01.2022 Two poems that I'm fond of in today's InDaily - the Poet's Corner segment. But it's hard even to think about autumn in today's winter chill. It must have been different when I wrote them!

21.01.2022 One of the best experiences of my writing life - reading Kerryn Goldsworthy's review of 'Passion Play' in all the Fairfax papers yesterday. It took me a trip to Adelaide airport to find a Sydney Morning Herald and a Melbourne Age - though no Canberra Times to be found. Well worth the time and petrol. A review to frame and keep for the bad moments!

20.01.2022 Another lovely night at the 'Passion Play' launch in Canberra at Paperchain Bookshop yesterday. Always fascinating to hear what the speaker has to say about the book; Geoff Page's thoughtful introduction showed me aspects of the book I'd hardly noticed in the writing of it.

18.01.2022 Very pleasing review of 'Passion Play' in Flinders University's Transnational Literature May journal (6:2). It's available on http://fhrc.flinders.edu.au/transnational/home.html if you'd like to read it.

18.01.2022 Coming event: at Goodwood Library 7 pm on Wednesday Sept.3 I'll be telling the story of Oberammergau and its Passion Play. Why does this event still draw half a million people from all over the world every tenth year? Come and find out. Bookings needed: call 8372 5100 or 8372 5166 or book online at Goodwood Library.Wine and refreshments provided - I'd love to see you there.

17.01.2022 If last weekend's review was a pleasure, the one in the Canberra Times this last Saturday (14th December) absolutely made my year. It's the sort of review one always dreams of getting - and the frustrating part is that I can't give you a link because Panorama, the weekend magazine of the CT, can't be seen online. I'm trying to get a pdf from the paper - the scanned version is very hard to read.

15.01.2022 Must remember my 'Writer' page also ... time to post here the two speaking events over the next week. First at Mt Barker Library at 1 pm on Saturday 12th, when my topic will be the Oberammergau Passion Play, and my fourth book; then on the following Wednesday (16th) the Friendly Street Poets 'Words at the Wall' at the State Library at 6 pm . Ros Schulz and I are the guest poets, and looking forward to a look back over our years of writing.

13.01.2022 Lovely to get a message this morning about the review of 'Passion Play' in Cordite Poetry Review. Definitely one to gladden the heart. You'll find it on this link if you'd like to read it. http://cordite.org.au/reviews/bennett-volk/

11.01.2022 Worth waiting for the review of 'Passion Play' in today's InDaily, the Adelaide online daily paper. John Miles' comments on the book brought joy to my heart.

11.01.2022 Time to share the good news - the new website is up and running. Maria's relieved (another big task done!) and I'm happy. Check it out at www.valerievolk.com.au

10.01.2022 Oops! That was meant to be 'IT certainly gladdened my heart ...'

08.01.2022 I've been having a satisfying few weeks with some extended writing time ... such a great feeling. But soon it's back to the public speaking circuit, and there's one coming that I'd love to see friends at. Tea Tree Gulley Library on Wednesday June 4, 6.30. A free public event, but please tell the library if you'd like to be there [email protected] - for catering numbers. I'll be talking about the background to the Oberammergau Passion Play, and the development of my novel, 'Passion Play'.

08.01.2022 Apologies to the people who've told me that they couldn't read the scanned copy of the Adelaide Advertiser review of 'Passion Play' (Jan.18) The article is now re-typed and can be found on my web site www.valerievolk.com.au in the 'Her Books' section, under 'Passion Play' - more reviews.

07.01.2022 A wonderful day! Opened this morning's Advertiser Saturday Magazine to find that Katherine England had reviewed 'Passion Play' in the 'Well Read' feature section of the Books page. It's a lovely review, and I've read and re-read it - almost know it by heart! Happy times!

06.01.2022 One of the best feelings in the world, to have in your hand the signed copy of the contract with the publisher for your next book. Great to be back with Wakefield Press, and looking forward to their publication of 'Bystanders' next year.

05.01.2022 So really happy yesterday to hear that Wakefield Press will publish my new book next year. And hey, everyone, this one is prose - so all those who say they don't read poetry (sad!) can relax. 'Bystanders' is for you!

05.01.2022 Christmas over; another birthday come and gone - and a new year beginning. Time to get back to my desk and back to writing. For those who wanted to see the Peter Pierce review of my latest book, check it out on my website in the reviews under the 'Passion Play' cover icon. www.valerievolk.com.au I certainly gladdened my heart!

04.01.2022 Lovely to get the news here in Ireland that the CALEB awards for this year include my 'Passion Play' in the short list for the Poetry section. Congratulations to all others in the list of finalists.

03.01.2022 I've posted mainly on my 'Valerie Volk' page lately, and ignored this 'Valerie Volk - writer' page. There it's been good to talk about the new Pocket Press series and my book in it 'Flowers & Forebears. Check it out on my web site for more information. At $4 each, these books are a brilliant Ginninderra Press initiative.

02.01.2022 I'm looking forward to tomorrow night at the Marion Cultural Centre Library, when I'll be talking about the Oberammergau Passion Play and my latest book, based on a group of travellers to the event. It's at 7 pm and all welcome - just please notify the library if you plan to be there.

02.01.2022 Thank you, Jane Greenwood, for that tremendous introduction of 'Passion Play' at the Avid Reader launch in Brisbane last night. And thank you to all the Brisbane friends and ex-students who came to celebrate with us - lovely to catch up with you all
