11.01.2022 Pleione orchid season is upon us. I have been away for about a month and it is nice to see a lot of new flower development. Looks like it has been a cool end to winter in Tasmania. On the positive side the yellows look much brighter this year. I will post photos of varieties at least on a weekly basis. If you are interested in any let me know. Flowering plants won't survive postage. So can't be sent this year but will be available when dormant next year. Availability for the 2019 season will be indicated with each photo.
02.01.2022 Just a few spring photos from the last year. It wasn't the best flowering season for me
01.01.2022 Temperature has a major effect on Pleione flower colour expression. Pleione Baritu Harlequin kept at 20C up top and one kept outside in cooler ambient temperatures on the bottom. Warmer temperatures bring out pink colouration making flowers often look dull and faded. If possible pleione should be kept cool during flower development. Sometimes flowers can even abort if kept too warm.
01.01.2022 Getting towards the end of the flowering season now
