24.01.2022 During this recent tumultuous time, we have had more time to reflect on what's important, what we really value in life and to contemplate more than normal with that excess 'busy-ness' being taken away. Aside from possibly cleaning out the wardrobe or garage, what have you discovered about yourself? Your life? What will you change or keep moving forward? Use this quieter time to create things in your life that make you happy, make you feel fulfilled. It's been a chance f...or all of us to strip right back and release past issues, rebalance our energy and let go of low priority things in our life that drag us down or cause stress. There is no time for that stuff anymore, even if it was still in your life before this global pandemic hit. Funny when actual big things happen you forget silly little things. They really lose their meaning and power. Let's keep that and be empowered to stay true, strong, healthy and caring of ourselves and each other, pandemic or not. This goes for all areas of life! Getting more efficient is how you can improve your productivity in every area So in exercise, if you can target more muscles at once which will save you time, then why not ... 13.01.2022 Disclaimer - IF YOU WANT A PERFECTLY EDITED VIDEO WITHOUT INTERRUPTION FROM MY GORGEOUS FAMILY, go to my other videos on Youtube now. I filmed this today (Sunday) as it was such a rainy day outside and we could not go for a walk. So for mental health and burning up some energy, we did this in the converted garage extra living space (where I normally film anyway). I thought Lincoln would do more but 3 year olds have a mind of their own as you know haha. It’s about doing wha...t you can, when you can in life, right!! It’s about progress, NOT perfection. These are all attitudes I live by anyways:-) *At the very least you WILL get a smile on your face, possibly a laugh, and some muscles worked through this video, if not exactly at the regular pace. Use it for entertainment purposes if it does not give you the workout you need, but I wanted to be real and show you how tricky it can be to film and juggle being a busy parent. 12.01.2022 Short on time? Slowing down will actually help you get back in control of your schedule and perception of time. If you allow yourself to slow down, you can really become more present and connect deeper with each moment There is power in slowing down and allowing yourself to come out of anxiousness, tension or tiredness. Take 5-10 deep breaths right now allowing your tummy to expand out on the in breath, and gently pull in on the out breath Hope this helps even a little with whatever is happening in your day today xx

12.01.2022 Time to put some flowers in mum's hair Leon is fascinated with flowers and leaves right now, while Linc is fascinated with hulk and ninja turtles But Linc always has time to do something sweet for me, like find a flower, brush my hair and knows that you treat ladies like this I love that! It's so crazy to think that one day they will be so grown up and adults, what a crazy thought but exciting to think about too Hopefully they will always have time for mum and dad... On another note, loving Sundays to take a breather, enjoy quality time and chill out thinking about some things I need to do during the week. 11.01.2022 If nothing else, do these two stretches at the end of your day Side stretch- sitting tall, tuck your legs back and really lift up and lengthen your spine (avoid collapsing forward)...this helps your ribs and lungs open out Hip flexor stretch- keep front foot under knee, stretch other leg back, lifting your chest...this helps open the front of the hip which is needed if you have been sitting lots... While you stretch, never push it, just gently feel it. Maintain a flowing breath and ensure you are warm. Hold each one for 30 seconds, repeat if needed. Postnatal safe, even if you have abdominal separation (Rectus Diastasis)...msg me if you need help with that and I'll direct you to the appropriate videos on my YouTube When returning to exercise postbirth it's important to get a doctor clearance, then build up slowly as your body has gone through a lot. This routine covers the very basics of strength and mobility. You gotta build your foundations first before stronger moves or you run the risk of injury ...and mentally demotivating yourself! Here's some effective basic strength and mobility moves to target your upper back/posture + core + lower back + thoracic rotation Mid rows with resistance band x15 V rows with resistance band x15 Pointer x20 Glute kickback x20 Chest Press x20 Narrow bridge x15 Ab bicycles x20 Mini back extension x15 Slow swimming x20 Tips: Keep your tummy strong throughout Do 15-20 reps of 1-3 sets as you build up. Some days may be less at the start so go easy on yourself Keep shoulders down and back, neck in alignment The first 4 weeks of exercising postbirth are normally really hard even if you were fit before, so be ok with this It takes time. Patience and not getting frustrated are key in your postnatal recovery and strength + fitness building up. . The saying is true...you carry your baby for 9 months so allow this amount of time at least to get back to where you were prior. With Leon over 6 months now I'm only properly starting to get back to more intermediate and stronger workouts as my stamina has had to build up again with arms, legs core and breathing. The journey is different for everyone. Never compare to others Do your best and just build gradually. That's the best way to ensure you allow for any changes in your body too! . Because we simply do not move enough throughout our lives, so our spinal muscles get too stuck. Babies are limber and develop through 'tummy time,' crawling then walking. They have to learn how to pull themselves up to be able to stand then walk. 02.01.2022 If you are feeling a bit low or flat right now it's totally normal and ok, but try these tips to help get back that spark even just a little. Sometimes it's the opposite of what we normally do, that we actually need to do which may appear counterintuitive. . We've always been told to not do too much exercise before bed as it fires you up. If you do moderate movement, followed by breathing, stretches and a short meditation it will burn up any excess energy and help you get ...more quality rest. Eating more fatty foods like olives, avocado, nuts, fish, salmon each day will provide more omegas which helps brain function, moods and therefore better energy with less head fog. Having reasons greater than your own immediate world helps drive deeper motivation and keeps your energy firing when hope can be diminished. Dig deep and connect to things, people and causes that you might want to help or contribute towards. Although it's tricky to socialize right now, keep in touch with a variety of people in your social circle through chats, videos, etc and any positive groups that lift your spirits.A simple phone call can make the world of difference and a friendly, familiar laugh may be all you need today or can help someone else with. Getting stuff down on paper is essential to releasing it from your mindset and unblocking negative thought patterns. Try putting pen to paper, then looking at it from different perspectives to lighten your mental load. This will instantly help you feel more energized. Sometimes we can get caught up in everyone else's stuff, losing sight of our own values. Switch off from the news on occasion, switch off from social media for designated times in your week or day and always come back to where you are at, what you need mentally, emotionally and rest-wise to be your better self. The guilt and busyness syndrome will always win at zapping your energy, so knowing your values and honouring your needs can help you not only feel more empowered but also energised.
