25.01.2022 When a false emergency alert is triggered it can damage a business and its workers: lost productivity, anxiety, fear, financial damages. The site can be shut down, workers can injure themselves in a rush to evacuate, surrounding areas and services can be impacted. To address this risk we've developed two features you can utilise to prevent false alarms. 1) Authority Protocols. This is an approval hierarchy you can implement as part of your system's alert notification and work...er response process. Essentially if an evacuation is triggered, nominated personnel must approve the evacuation before sirens are activated. 2) Virtual Devices. A fairly new feature, we introduced these for our customers who needed a trigger but couldn't install a physical device due to its public location and proclivity for false alarms. This feature enables nominated personnel to trigger an evacuation (or medical alert) from a location via our smartphone app.

20.01.2022 "As part of high-visibility safety checks across the Hunter region, SafeWork NSW inspectors have visited building and construction sites in Newcastle, following a number of serious on-site injuries. Inspectors were on the ground, ensuring those undertaking high-risk work had the right safeguards in place." If you don't have a safety alert system installed as part of your on site emergency event management, consider a Vanguard Wireless system. Our tech means you can install one device or 100 devices and manage them using our smartphone app. https://bit.ly/3h1PGUE

20.01.2022 Victoria has introduced new workplace manslaughter laws. Employers that fail to meet health and safety obligations face tough new penalties, if their negligence leads to a worker dying on the job. An effective evacuation or nurse call system is intended to improve patient outcomes by providing workers with an easy way to trigger an alert, and clear communication about what action is required by all on site. Does your system offer this? If not, are you endangering your workers? If something does go wrong, make sure you replace panic with preparedness.

20.01.2022 If you're not feeling well then this online COVID-19 symptom checker is definitely worthwhile checking out, if only to set your mind at ease OR convince you to go get tested. Remember that if you feel unwell you should self quarantine until you receive your test results back. Shop online, ask neighbours or friends to drop off things you need, wear a mask if you have to go outside. The sooner we control the spread, the sooner we can get back to normal! | healthdirect https://bit.ly/2Fdi8F1

18.01.2022 When a worker is injured on site, one of the outcomes is the financial strain. According to Safework Australia, the financial impact of EACH workplace injury is: Worker = $51,960 Community = $19,070 Employer = $4,350... The speed with which a workplace responds to a workplace injury is imperative. Not only will the worker's medical outcomes stand a chance for improvement, but the financial impact for themselves, the community, and the employer should too.

18.01.2022 One of the consumer trends over the last 12 months has been a move to support local businesses (either at a community, state or federal level). What started at local coffee shops and retailers has ultimately become a larger movement. Customers are posing the question: 'How do I support local business and do the right thing?'. To learn more, visit KPMG's report on seven enduring consumer behaviours post Covid. To improve your workplace emergency response process, buy an evacu...ation or medical alert system from us! 18.01.2022 Sometimes a workplace will need to evacuate workers quickly. Everyone should understand how they need to evacuate the site, and where they need to group together in order to be counted. But what happens if the emergency requires workers to remain where they are? At a school or assisted living facility this might be if an intruder has entered the grounds. At a construction site this might be if there's an issue with an evacuation route. In this instance you'll need a secondary... alert - a lockdown. With a Vanguard Wireless emergency alert system you can access two different types of siren patterns - one for evacuation and one for a lockdown. Just tell us you want the two different alerts activated and we'll set it up in the backend. #WHS #evacuationalert #schoolsafety #systemoptions #innovation

17.01.2022 Our business has evolved with our customers. It's their feedback on our devices, systems and processes that have helped us to grow. If you're not seeking customer feedback for your business then you're missing out on extremely important intel - the good and the bad. http://bit.ly/2U862AJ

17.01.2022 Due to the virus, there's many factors that will impact a business' ability to deliver infrastructure projects on time. It's important that the pipeline continues by accelerating smaller and medium projects (without impacting on quality or safety). https://bit.ly/39Ryvkk

16.01.2022 A major feature of our wireless devices is that they operate using rechargeable batteries - which are super easy to change by you or your team. No need to second guess when to change them either as our system will tell you which device is low on power, saving you time. Watch the video below to see Rod - one of our tech support team members - change the batteries in less than 60 seconds.

15.01.2022 We supply our emergency alert systems to all kinds of businesses and organisations, such as warehouses, schools, assisted living homes, caravan parks and manufacturing plants. But it's our construction customers who really test our products on evolving sites where they're subjected to dust, rain, heat and who knows what else. One of our nurse call devices looks like it's come off second best with some sort of fire damage. But it's still working!!! #onsitesafety #nursecall #emergencyalertsystem #workhealthsafety #hardyakka

12.01.2022 Do you think there's a burden of safety process compliance at the expense of focusing on the human factor? How can we look at activation and intervention of a worker's mindset to prevent accidents from even occurring? This blog from the Workplace Health & Safety Show looks at what workplaces can do better. https://bit.ly/3dLjtjC

11.01.2022 Insurance is a means of protection from financial loss. It is a form of risk management, primarily used to hedge against the risk of a contingent or uncertain loss. An entity which provides insurance is known as an insurer, insurance company, insurance carrier or underwriter. As a provider of emergency alert systems, we can also be grouped within this category. If your workplace and workers are safe, then it's unlikely you'll need to use our system. BUT if the unthinkable hap...pens, then you want to mitigate the risk of death, disability, and financial loss with THE smartest system on the market. You want raising an alert to be easy for workers. You want key personnel to learn of the emergency immediately and en masse. You want everyone to understand exactly what action is required of them. You want a coordinated response that aligns with your business emergency plan. Does your current emergency alert system deliver this? If not, then you could say you're underinsured.

10.01.2022 Heart disease is the number one killer around the world so it stands to reason you'll be in a medical situation with someone who has sudden chest pains or shortness of breath. All Australian workplaces are required to have an emergency plan in place and this extends to medical emergencies. Do you or your coworkers have a good understanding of what action to take in this type of emergency? How will you alert others to the emergency?... What action are you required to take? What action do you expect others to take? What do you communicate to the wider team? How do you communicate to the wider team? Medical alert systems exist to assist workers to quickly alert others about the emergency. With a smartphone app and SMS notifications, businesses can build a process that's easy to follow, minimising confusion and improving patient outcomes. #vanguardwireless #workplacesafety #emergencysystems #nursecallsystems

09.01.2022 This year we've launched a number of customisations in conjunction with our customers. Here's the top three: 1) ADJUSTABLE SIREN SETTINGS. One of our customers in Auckland needed 15 minutes to fully evacuate their site. Our default siren sequence allowed for six minutes. So now customers can set their own evacuation sequence at up to 30 minutes. 2) UHF RADIO INTEGRATION. Handheld radios are popular on construction sites. A lot of sites rely purely on these to communicate abou...t an emergency. Now emergency messages can be transmitted en masse to all radio users with Vanguard Wireless' operating system. 3) USER PORTAL. Self management of your system has never been easier with this new portal. Manage users, devices, geofencing and ID who is still on site. As a result of using a Vanguard Wireless evacuation OR medical alert system, you will improve the medical and financial outcomes for your workers in an emergency event. Workers easily raise an alert, managers receive the alert via the app and SMS, communication about what action is required is clear, and the business can review activity logs to undertake process improvement.

08.01.2022 Did you know that Vanguard Wireless' cellular evac and medical alert triggers can operate from a worker's own cell phone? This is particularly relevant now as workplaces try to minimise worker contact with high touch components like buttons, handles and rails. Here's a link to a webinar you may want to attend regarding workplace safety in the time of Covid, hosted by Safety Solutions. https://bit.ly/3e5DmRy

06.01.2022 More and more businesses are choosing to install Vanguard Wireless evacuation and nurse call (medical alert) systems on their sites. These include construction and refurbishment companies, civil works sites, assisted living organisations, schools, and factories. With 12 different devices we can build a system that works with any site challenge. This is in part due to our incredible product development team who have recently launched features including cellular connectivity, lockdown modes, authority protocols, pocket nurse calls, mass evacuation messages, and general improvements to the user experience. 06.01.2022 If you're working remotely at the moment (and probably for the forseeable future) then you'll recognise the pros and cons. We've missed the team camaraderie that is facilitated by working in the same physical environment, but we’ve been pleasantly surprised in our staff’s ability to adapt to change. Regular meetings and Trello boards have centralised communication amongst the team to ensure everyone is on the same page. It's worth having a read of Safe Work Australia's recommendations for workers to make sure you're looking after your physical and mental health. https://bit.ly/2PWU77n

06.01.2022 This year's SafeWork Awards were a little different with a focus on how workplaces, staff, contractors, customers and suppliers pivoted to ensure everyone's safety while trying to maintain their business. Vanguard Wireless was highly commended in the small business category. A huge thank you goes to our: 1) staff, who adapted quickly to remote working, online communications, new safety protocols, and mask wearing (we're confident staff already washed their hands!); 2) our cu...stomers, who were quick to give us great feedback on how we could improve our user experience, project planning, and system designs so they could focus on worker safety; and 3) our suppliers, who worked closely with us to manage delays in the supply chain Lastly thank you to SafeWork NSW for the recognition and encouragement.

05.01.2022 Our new A0 size safety signs have arrived! Warnings touch on safety gear, high vis, reinforced boots, emergency protocols and Covid safe practices. Any new order receives a set for every entry of the worksite, saving you up to $200. Here's what they look like installed on two different sites.

05.01.2022 Some interesting insights from the Master Builder's Association regarding the Australian construction industry. "Office buildings, education and accommodations will contract significantly and although transportation, health and retail have much more favourable projections, they aren’t enough to overcome the general slowdown." It's interesting to consider how much of an impact the current pandemic is having. On one hand, the trend of working from home could have a drastic imp...act on business appetite for commercial space. On the other hand it's highlighted changes that need to be made in transportation (such as elevator space) and healthcare. As always we're here to support our customers in how they approach these trends moving forward. https://bit.ly/2EmFs2G
