23.01.2022 "How to retain the colour and quality of your Decals - during an acid bath". So this isn't about which i better - Oxalic or Citric baths, but more about keeping your vintage decals shiny and new during and after an acid bath. In my experience both types of acid baths take their toll on all decals (they add to the cracking, and also give it a washed out look). This isn't a perfect solution but it definitely helps. 1. Clean your frame/forks with mild soap *just like you would b...efore any bath. 2. Once dry, measure and cut small plastic strips that match your decal sizes exactly (width + height). - I used left over plastic mailing satchels. 3. Cloth Tape - place the plastic pieces on the sticky side of the cloth tape, THEN cut about 3mm around the edges of the plastic decal shape. 4. Simply repeat until ALL decals are covered and run your bath. 5. After your bath, remove all of the tape and polish the untouched areas with metal/aluminium polish. (These untouched areas won't be perfect at first but that's why it's important to only have minimal tape on the frame/forks that's necessary. Of course it all polishes out brilliantly. See more
