22.01.2022 Scriptures Hosea 11:1-9 These verses caught my interest because it reminded me that God is not simply a man, He is God. And in this scripture, I believe this truth is reflected especially in the way God loves. It is a love that is not similar to human love but instead is fully unconditional. It is a redemptive and sacrificial love; a love that gave everything to save us from the wages of our sin. This chapter calls to remembrance the stubborn and sinful hearts of the Israeli...tes, and how despite this, God did not give up on them and continued to show His compassion towards them. This compassion to His people then and to us now, who are also seeds of Abraham, is unimaginable. It stirs my heart to know that my Creator is longing for my personal relationship and fellowship with Him. How He loves us is beyond what we could ever deserve and yet I am amazed because I know that He will never give up on me nor will He forsake me. May we not take this love for granted but instead be moved to do our part as a response to His great love; let us return to Him, honor, worship and love Him.

20.01.2022 SCRIPTURE: John 14:10-14 Verse 14 in particular caught my interest because it is a significant promise and declaration for Jesus to say You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. For others, this may even seem too good to be true, especially when they have experienced praying in the name of Jesus and still their prayers are not answered. However, as we reflect deeper in the Word, it is clear that we must understand the context in which Jesus spoke these words.... He begins verse 10 by saying Dont you know that I am in the Father, and the Father is in me?" and this displays an intimate relationship. So we can see that this promise of being able to ask anything in Jesus' name is on the basis of a relationship with the Father. If we have no intimacy with God, then we can expect no miracles. As we grow in this intimacy and love for God, we are then entrusted as someone who has been sent to do things on His behalf with His authority. This is how we are able to believe in the promise that anyone who has faith in me will do the things I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these. #insight #wordofgod #visioncommunity

19.01.2022 Written Summary of 26 July 2020 preaching: In the river, there is growth and this river is the water of life, flowing from God. This river that Ezekiel 47 speaks of is a river that is for all those who thirsts, and so the first truth revealed to us is that we must thirst. There must be a need in us for Jesus to fill. Our spirit must get thirsty when it goes without God, just as our physical body thirsts when we go without water because believing Jesus is actually to thirst an...d long for Him. We must thirst, and when we do, we are invited by the Lord to come to Him and drink. This water of life is a free gift, we do not need to earn it but we must receive it by coming to Him and drinking from His Word and being refreshed in His presence. In receiving the river of life, we are cleansed and the 'saltwater' in us becomes fresh again and we realise that Jesus not only has what we need but He himself is everything we need and if we want to have waters within us that are pure, we must drink from Jesus alone. Once we receive this river of life, it becomes a continuous stream that overflows within us. We are not simply given one drink from the river but we are given rivers of living water that flows in our inner being. And from this river of living water in us, we are made fresh and steadfast. We are healed, renewed and secured and we continue to thirst. 17.01.2022 SCRIPTURE : Galatians 6:10 Paul teaches the Galatians the importance of doing good to all. I believe that this is an encouragement and instruction for us as well because through this, our love for God is being displayed in our love and treatment of others, especially to our brothers and sisters in Christ. This instruction is seen in 1 John 4:20-21 as well. These verses make clear how much God valued that we love those around us, and we can show this love by doing good to all people when we have the opportunity to do so. I believe that God is pleased when we do this, especially when we do it out of our love for Him. May we learn to respond to His great love for us by not only pouring out our love to Him but also allowing this to be reflected in our attitudes, thoughts, words and actions to others.

13.01.2022 Hosea 8:1-6 reveals to us an important truth, particularly in verse 3 which states that Israel has rejected what is good. We are challenged then to reflect on whether we have also rejected what is good, but first Ps Moises reminds us what is good. This chapter of Hosea states that Israel has been choosing princes and setting up kings without God's approval or consent. Understanding this enables us to see what is good. It is whatever is in God's approval and because the Israel...ites have been making their choices without God, they have been rejecting what is good what is of God's. As the children of God, we need the approval and consent of the Father. Verse 3 also says that an enemy will pursue Israel and so the opposite is true and the enemy has no space in our lives when, instead of rejecting, we embrace what is good and we are covered by the Father. Embracing what is good and seeking the Father's approval is accomplished when we pray the Words of God by asking wisdom from the Father. Let us remember to pray for things which the Bible commands. When our prayers are founded in Scripture, it opens doors for us to know the will of God and the will of God is good. Check out the word by our global leader, Ps. 13.01.2022 Scripture: Romans 12: 1-2 This is a familiar passage of Scripture to most and yet it interested me to reflect on how we should respond to God's great mercy. The verse tells us that in view of God's mercy, we are to offer ourselves as a sacrifice that is holy. While we are in this world, daily we must give up what is our self nature and set ourselves apart from the ways and patterns of the world. This offering of ourselves to God constitutes our spiritual act of worship to Hi...m. As we offer ourselves to God, we are being transformed. In giving up our own ways and submitting to His ways, we also renew our minds to focus on Him. So a new orientation in our thinking leads to a new orientation in behaviour. When we commit ourselves to the Lord and are transformed as we renew our minds, He promises that we will be able to test and approve God's pleasing and perfect will.

10.01.2022 Written Summary of 2 August 2020 preaching: In Genesis 17, God introduces Himself to Abraham as God Almighty; He reveals Himself as El Shaddai. Through the decl...aration of His Name, God tells Abraham of His covenant and He changes Abraham's name to assure him that He is God Almighty and He will fulfil His covenant because He is able. After God declares His Name and assures Him of this, He instructs Abraham with a condition. God says "walk before me faithfully" and this should strike our hearts. In waiting for God, we shouldn't get ahead of Him and take the control away from God and try to fulfil this promise by ourselves. Part of faith is surrendering things to Him and this means that we don't try to look for answers or fulfilment elsewhere. We don't need to check on God. If He says it, we must believe that He is able to fulfil it. The covenant of God to Abraham seems impossible to everyone else but Abraham believed and because of this he was counted as righteous. Abraham put his faith in His God, in El Shaddai. Let us be encouraged that in all situations and no matter the facts confronting us, the God who spoke the promise to us is God Almighty and we can hold unswervingly to His Word. Just as Abraham believed, may our faith not weaken. Let us walk before God faithfully. 08.01.2022 SCRIPTURE: Daniel 2:16-23 NIV These verses and the story of Daniel being used to interpret king Nebuchadnezzar's dream is a reminder of how important it is to seek God's counsel. Often times we seek from worldly things, when the simple truth is that the greatest and true help can only come from the Lord. We have been given the gift of having God's wisdom and counsel to guide us and all we need to do is seek Him and ask Him. God promises us that when we seek Him, we will find Him and that He will bless us with wisdom knowledge to discern. As His people, we are to grow in our awareness and sensitivity to God's voice. There is a great blessing that comes from depending and relying on God and learning to seek Him before anyone or anything else. We must become people who hears, who know His voice as He knows ours.

04.01.2022 SCRIPTURE: ACTS 16:19-29 It's amazing to note that verse 25 of this chapter tells us that Paul and Silas were singing hymns to God and praying. It reminds me that this is the kind of joy we're meant to have as Christians a joy that isn't dependent on circumstances but a joy found in God, unshakeable by outside factors and situations. This true joy comes from knowing that God Himself lives within us and has fellowship with us regardless of our environment. The example of Paul... and Silas is powerful because they had and were currently facing some of the most difficult circumstances. They experienced accusation, persecution and imprisonment and still, they found joy in God and praised Him in the middle of their situation. In the darkness of the night, they prayed and they sang. May we know and live out joy such as this. A joy so deeply rooted in the assurance of God's goodness and in the knowledge that we are His children, loved and cared for. May we choose to allow God's Spirit to fill us with His joy and that from this joy, our life would serve us a testimony to the people around us who see us praising and praying to our God in the midst of trial. #insight #wordofgod #verseoftheday #soap #devotion

01.01.2022 SCRIPTURE: Mark 8:11-13 Jesus refused to give the Pharisees a sign that he was the Messiah. According to the previous verses, He had actually been performing various miracles already. The Pharisees, however, wanted a ‘sign from heaven’, that is, a cosmic sign, from the stars. Apparently, the signs He had already given them were not good enough for them and so He refused to give them the signs they were demanding because they tested Him. Jesus said, ‘I tell you the truth’. Je...sus often used this term with people who he knew would not want to accept what he said, in order to emphasise the truth of what he was saying. He then tells them that no sign will be given to them. He did this because they had already had sufficient revelation to believe in him, but they had refused to do so. Are we being like the Pharisees who refused to readily believe Jesus and the revelations He has already given about himself? Let us be reminded today to believe what Jesus says of Himself and the many truths He has already revealed. #insight #wordofgod #soap
