19.01.2022 What makes a knock out resume? Get the length right - depending on your relevant experience, your resume should range between two and four pages. Focus on the quality, not the quantity. Describing what you have achieved in your career in as few words as possible will make you stand out.

17.01.2022 Were here for you, youre here for us The experiences we are all having in relation to COVID-19 are like nothing we have ever experienced. Apart from the threa...t to our health, there are present and long-lasting economic ramifications. For those of us who have been in our towns you will have seen that many business doors are shut and there are signs indicating they dont know when they will reopen. Some probably will not. Last week seven newspapers closed, including two just over the hills in South Gippsland. Rural newspapers are the heartbeat of their communities. We provide the local news and hold governments of all levels and business to account. In these times of social media hype, we are a trusted news source. Newspapers cannot survive without advertising revenue. It pays wages and pays the bills. As a result, we like many other businesses across the country have stood staff down and drastically cut hours. The Gazette was founded on July 5, 1898 and over its 121-year history has had just three proprietors. It has been a family owned newspaper with strong connections to our community. Our current owners, the Hopkins family, bought the paper in 1951, this August marking 69 years of ownership. Almost all of our staff live here. We have kids and grandkids in local schools, we are on a wide range of committees, we play sport here, belong to local arts and entertainment organisations, we shop here, eat out here and love everything about the rolling hills of Gippsland. We are proud Gippslanders. We are doing everything in our power to bring The Gazette to you every Tuesday. If it could survive on the passion and commitment of management and staff it would, but unfortunately it needs more than that. Today we have 44 pages, of which in the circumstances, we are all very proud. Hopefully you can buy it and encourage others to do the same. If you can get out we are on newspaper stands in supermarkets, at newsagents and at stores which are sub agents of newsagents. If you cant we have the full digital edition available for purchase on our website. Details of an offer of home delivery and online appear on page 27. Maybe you can advertise in the weeks ahead. In an editorial our founder Albert Harvey ran in the early editions of The Gazette he said, in part, a good local newspaper is one of the best public assets that any district can possess. His words resonate now and will into the future. In these tumultuous times look after each other and most importantly stay well. See more

15.01.2022 What is important in your resume? - following the all important page one, the remaining pages should include: 1. Your education and training 2. Your professional experience and work history 3. Hobbies and interests: its a good idea to include something about your life outside of work.... 4. Professional Referees: These should be phone contactable referees that can vouch for your abilities within the workplace. See more

13.01.2022 Awesome event, great opportunity to showcase some amazing local talent and businesses. Business awards are far more than just being recognised by your industry peers, it is a great way to assess your business and where it is heading and a wonderful opportunity to promote, network and generally boost your business.

13.01.2022 Awesome results coming in for professional resumes created in the past 2 weeks. One applicant got the job with a change of career and another has been short listed for a high demand position - again a change of career! It's not always about having experience, but about making sure you hit the mark with the right "direction" in your resume!

13.01.2022 The importance of page one The first page of your resume is prime real estate. The key things you should include on page one: 1. Your name and contact details 2. Your personal or professional summary - This statement should paint a picture of who you are, why youre ideal for the role youre applying for and what your career aspirations are. 3. Your key skills - Listing these is a must, so that potential employers can quickly see your core capabilities.

12.01.2022 There seems to be an awful lot of scam phone calls going around currently. I just got off the phone with a lovely lady with a US accent, who told me my internet was being hacked and she could show me how to fix the problem!! number was +365040996668. On top of that we have also had 2 calls from "inland revenue" telling us that someone is taking legal action. Please be cautious people!

12.01.2022 Feeling the need to express myself graphically regarding Covid 19 and the pandemic... hang in there everyone!

08.01.2022 Times are certainly tough right now and if you are a job seeker looking for work in this current climate, then you really need to have a professional edge! Make sure you are making the very best first impression with the best possible resume!

07.01.2022 With only 3 months until Christmas, now's the perfect time to help say thanks to those who helped keep our businesses running. These corporate gifts and greeting cards are on special for October and you will have them in plenty of time, for a stress-free Christmas.

06.01.2022 In difficult times, it is imperative to get your resume right!! Over the next few days, I will share some advice on how to make sure it gets the attention it deserves. 1. When it comes to your resume, content is key. But a bad layout could hinder your chances of being noticed. Its more compelling to have a clean, fuss-free design and layout. Too much graphics and columns wont make it through the applicant tracking systems. 2. Fancy fonts are distracting 3. An aesthetically appealing, functional resume is a reflection of who you are as a potential employee - it shows professionalism....

05.01.2022 Great to see our client Lyrebird Village moving into the world of social media and now providing loads of information, events and updates to the community.

04.01.2022 The new dragons ink website is now LIVE - clean, fresh and simple.... a bit like us! Thanks Aaron Kennedy for your great work! take a look www.dragonsink.com.au

04.01.2022 What not to include in your resume. Photos: Its not about how you look, its about your skills and experience. Roles you undertook more than 20 years ago. The words Curriculum Vitae: Unless you have published works, then you have a Resume not a CV. Rememberif you want your resume to stand out, focus on getting the content right, rather than dressing it up with fancy fonts or graphics. A clean, functional resume will get you noticed by potential employers.

04.01.2022 I always enjoy working with the West Gippsland Healthcare Group - this advertisement supports the residents of Cooinda and the Warragul Regional Newspaper! Get your copy today! Let get them all smiling!!

03.01.2022 So this is an online logo design, has some value, but name v image v overall aesthetics, just not quite there! Could tweak this and make it sooo much better!

02.01.2022 So many great projects on at the moment, means work on a Sunday to try and get through it! Cold rainy days help alleviate the guilt

02.01.2022 An application letter or cover letter is all about making a great first impression. Use it to give your job application the best chance of making progress. Think of your application letter as a pitch a way to introduce yourself professionally and show the value you could bring to the role. Your resume is there to document your skills, experience and achievements, but your application letter sums these things up in a way that matches the job and offers a sense of who you are. Its your chance to show why youre interested in the particular role, and that youve done your research about the company. A well-written application letter will encourage a potential employer to read your resume and get in touch.

01.01.2022 When composing your resume - experienced Job seekers should ditch the objective at the top of the resume and create a professional summary that makes recruiters and hiring managers want to read more! Job seekers need to view their resume as a marketing document rather than a list of places theyve worked. Other handy tips:... Be strategic about jobs you list Customise the resume for each employer / application Check and recheck your spelling and grammar #resume #jobsearch #marketing #jobs #professional #cvwriting
