23.01.2022 Following the Vernissage opening of the Venice Architecture Biennale in May, four winning practices and other Australian architects took part in Smeg Australia's 2018 Smeg Tour. Visiting the Emilia Romagna region of Italy, the architects took in the sights of Parma, the Guido Canali designed Smeg Headquarters and Smeg's state of the art manufacturing facilities. Aptly named the 'breadbasket' region of Italy, guests enjoyed an array of local Italian food!

Thank you to Senator Fifield and the Department of Communications and the Arts for helping to promote Australian architecture to an international audience.

Focusing on the generosity and thoughtfulness within architecture, the Irish duo from Grafton architects explained that the 16th International Architecture Exhibition will exhibit, a generosity of spirit and a sense of humanity at the core of architectures agenda, focusing on the quality of space itself. 21.01.2022 The Institute is pleased to announce Baracco+Wright Architects as the Creative Directors of the Australian Exhibition at 2018 Venice Architecture Biennale. The 2018 Venice Biennale theme 'repair' by Baracco+Wright Architects, collaborating with artist Linda Tegg, will see thousands of temperate grassland species cultivated and nurtured within the Australian Pavilion alongside large-scale architectural projections. Irish duo, Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara of Grafton Architects, will be the 16th curators of the Venice Architecture Biennale. "The curators, who are well-known for the refinement of their work, are also known for their intense didactic activity and their ability to involve and fascinate new generations," said president of the Venice Biennale Paolo Baratta. Known for projects including the Univer...sita Luigi Bocconi in Milan and the Medical School and Student Residences at the University of Limerick, the design-duo promise big things for the 2018 Venice Architecture Biennale. Expressions of Interest for the role of Australias 2018 Creative Directors are now open. Submissions close 26 February 2017.
