25.01.2022 S Q U I S H Thats the first word that came to mind with this Super cool vid from @healthy.pregnancy on the growing baby bump! . . . #Repost @healthy.pregnancy with @get_repost ... 23.01.2022 We are ALL for empowering women to exercise during pregnancy. You wont hear me saying dont do #crossfit during pregnancy or you have to stop jogging. Howe...ver, in an ideal world, each person would have the opportunity to receive a screening of them doing the various exercises to make sure there wasnt a significant increase in intraabdominal pressure and load affecting the pelvic floor and rectus abdominus (linea alba).. . . In this particular video, do you see how she has excess doming through the linea alba of her abdominal muscle (rectus abdominus) and may have umbilical hernia. She is exerting an effort with significant pressure leading to the doming (notice the bulging out right in the center of her belly as she exerts force?). There are likely a variety of other exercises that would not lead to this same effect and this is where a trained pelvic physical therapist or fitness expert could be a great asset! Theres also a risk of falling from that height... . . What long term effects does this have if she did this repetitively throughout her pregnancy? Would she have a worse outcome with regard to diastasis and pelvic floor symptoms and presentation? . . . To be clear, this is not to shame this athlete or draw attention to her specifically. It is to show a good example of pressure during exercise. This has been posted publicly on various pages. *** Added for further clarification: I dont know this athlete personally, but it has been shared multiple times that she saw this video that day and realized she shouldnt keep doing that. She now uses this video to educate others.*** . Special shout out! I was alerted to this video posted by @tamararial and @dianeleept Diane Lee. . #crossfit #diastasisrecti #exercise #womenshealth #pelvicguru #abdominalseparation #abdominal #rectusabdominus #lineaalba #pregnant #pregnancy #postnatal #pregnancyexercise #postnatalexercise #momblogger #momlife #mom #mama #6pack

22.01.2022 I could not be prouder of my dear friend and absolutely inspirational woman @em_petricola_cycling leaving the world champs in Rio with a bronze, silver and a WORLD RECORD #Repost @em_petricola_cycling with @get_repost 3.5 years ago @matt_ryan1984 had the greatest idea & it has changed my life - to chase Paralympic gold on my bike. This past month has been the first big jump towards achieving this goal. From the beginning when I was not in great shape, @shanejkelly bel...ieved in me & has worked with me ever since through some really challenging moments. Over the past 4 months @nickowen5 has been a genius with what he has had me doing in training on my own in the desert. For the past month @cameron_jennings has managed to turn me into a world record breaking pursuiter. While disappointed to not have finished with a win for them in the final, I know that with the support of these men & all the other great people Ive had the privilege of working with through @australiancyclingteam & @vicinstsport , Ill only get faster & stronger. A world record, a silver & bronze not a bad start to an international career I guess! Huge thanks to my support system of @anjellapetricola & Nick, the Brown/Davis/Martini clan, & my peeps from RAK who have not only covered my classes so I could be here, but been super supportive throughout. Looking forward to seeing what the next 12 months can bring! @cbgphoto @australiancyclingteam #paracycling #paratrackchamps2018 #vis See more

21.01.2022 Bowel cancer is the second most common diagnosed cancer in Australia for both men and women. In 2015 it is estimated that over 17,000 of us will be diagnosed wi...th bowel cancer resulting in 4,120 deaths. The upside is that despite its prevalence throughout the modern world bowel cancer is believed to be one of the most preventable through lifestyle modification. Research has found that populations that move from countries of low to high incidence of bowel cancer adopt the rates of the host country due to a change in lifestyle.

16.01.2022 G O A L S E T T I N G . . . What motivates you to move? A long term goal can help you stay on track and keep you moving. Maybe you want to enter a comp? Maybe you want to walk without pain? Whatever it is, its important and specific to YOU. Short term goals can keep you motivated from week to week to get you to that long term goal. Perhaps you want to lift a heavier weight by the end of the week? Or walk an extra kilometre? Again, keep it real and specific to you.... . . . NEVER underestimate the power of goal setting. . . . . . #exercisephysiology #exercisephysiologygeelong #thegeelongexphys #movegeelong #healthmotivation #goalsetting #movewithverse #exerciseright See more

01.01.2022 The World Health Organization now recognizes physical inactivity as the fourth leading risk factor for mortality from noncommunicable diseases, and the economic... costs associated with physical inactivity among children are staggering. The most recent issue of CSMR, three researchers propose a condition they have named the Pediatric Inactivity Triad (PIT). The PIT is composed of three components: 1) Exercise deficit disorder 2) Pediatric dynapenia 3) Physical illiteracy They go on to offer a novel conceptual approach to substantively address the public health crisis.
