25.01.2022 Vintage wooden shoe lasts....what size are you? A ‘last’ is the mechanical form that shoemakers would use in repairing and manufacturing shoes, and they also make great pieces to add to a vignette on a coffee table, side table or a bookshelf. Warm timber and formed steel, curvy and smooth, with repeated makers marks....what’s not to love? Available as singles or multiples. $25 each @ Terang, Victoria 2 SOLD
25.01.2022 A little 1920’s desk that will fit in the tightest of spaces. The leather inlaid top is hinged to lift and hide your bits and pieces...Gorgeous wear marks on the foot plate shows years of use. At 80cm high, 61cm wide and 49cm deep...it’s pocket sized.$160 @ Terang, Victoria
25.01.2022 SOLD-This oak hall table was manufactured by FK Cox and Co., Kensington Victoria. The furniture factory was destroyed by fire in 1935, as were two streets of cottages that surrounded the factory. Inside the draw is a stamp claiming ‘European Labour Only’, a legal requirement at the time. This 1920’s beauty is styled as a bit of a catch all, keys, phones, hats, shopping bags and brollies....it’s in great condition with some small knocks on one side leg and some new draw pulls, as the others were cactus. 1210mm H x 1320mm L x 470mm D. $250 @ Terang, Victoria
24.01.2022 SOLD-Something unusual, a 1920’s Brunswick phonograph cabinet. The actual phonograph has long since flown the coop, but the cabinet is a booming piece of furniture. Would look fab in a hallway as a catch all for the stuff that finds its way in the house. A huge storage space for difficult to hide items. There’s minor damage to the veneer in a couple of spots and a repair to the back, rather shapely, leg. And it’s taller than your average bear. 760mm W x 1100mm H x 565mm D. $240 @ Terang, Victoria
20.01.2022 One could ask, what would possess someone to take to an antique cedar chest with gold paint, fill all the key holes and remove the locks? There’s a special place in hell for these folk. #vicandray #restoration #cedarchest #goldpaintseriously #stripper #sandpaper #hoursandhours
19.01.2022 A long held passion for restoring furniture and making my home a nice place to be, has led me to turn this pastime into something more. So if you are just as interested in finding things for your home, stay tuned to ‘Vic & Ray’ for pieces that have great bones, a sense of history and are just fabulous to look at....and maybe could even be a bit useful!
15.01.2022 This Victorian armchair.... The oak arm rests and seat show years and years of wear. Not sure how many bottoms it’s taken to have polished this so smooth. $300 @ Terang, Victoria
12.01.2022 A petite cabinet that would happily sit as a bedside or as a piece in that tiny spot, that just needs something. Delicate painted timber work features on the door and back piece. It’s had a difficult life with some major repair to the door and top, but that timber detail had me at ‘hello’, so I just had to fix it....’we can rebuild him!’ I thought to myself.....channeling the Six Million Dollar Man. 425mm W x 840mm H x 400mm D $130 @ Terang, Victoria
09.01.2022 Sad little handle on the latest project....beautiful detail and copper patina....but the swing piece of the handle is missing.
07.01.2022 Konnichiwa........ for something a bit different, vintage Japanese Kokeshi dolls. What are they for......just to be beautiful! Large x 1-45cm high-$90 each Medium x 2-40cm high-$70 each Small x 2-30cm high-$60 each ... If there’s a particular one you’d like, just let me know. Sayonara @ Terang, Victoria SOLD -40cm doll on left
07.01.2022 Love this piece! So who was Eric Williamson SX 407? He was born in Manchester, England on April 26th 1905. On his 10th birthday the Gallipoli landing was just beginning. He enlisted in the 2nd A.I.F in Keswick, South Australia sometime in the late 1930’s. We can find out a little about the man who owned this trunk, thanks to the National Archives but on checking his service records we found that they are yet to be released, so we can only wonder where in the world Eric and h...is trunk travelled to. Another question is why has it left the care of his family? Such a precious piece, but then again, I’m way too sentimental. The trunk has a story and patina that can’t be replicated.... each bump, scratch and knock adds to the charm of this piece. It’s had very little work except a good clean and polish. I think it would make a great coffee table or storage chest at the end of a bed. What an imagination and conversation starter, I’ve just looked at it for days and wondered..... @ Terang, Victoria See more
05.01.2022 Mark 2 - Australian Made stationary cabinet. It’s had a more troubled life than the first cabinet, but I’d call them character marks! Again made by F K Cox in Kensington, on 9th July 1947.....must have been flat out that day. 410mm L x 280mm W x 430mm H. $210 @ Terang, Victoria
05.01.2022 SOLD-A blackboard that’s survived the rough and tumble of a sports club. So it will go the distance in your home or business. Small repair to the rear of the frame...not visible. This 1930’s vintage blackboard is 1930mm long and 720mm high. $70 @ Terang, Victoria
02.01.2022 SOLD-off to Scoresby-1920’s Depression era cedar meat safe. This household necessity has been put together from packing crate pine and cedar, from a time when money was scarce. It’s got some less than perfect joints, a join across the top, and some repair to the mesh. This meat safe has a story and a soul, much more than the fast furniture we purchase today. Will your (insert name of big box furniture store), coffee table still be standing in nearly 100 years? 1560 mm H x 630 mm W x 440mm D. $350 @ Terang, Victoria
01.01.2022 Australian made stationery draws, by FK Cox & Co, in Kensington Victoria. One of the draws bears the makers mark with the date 9th July 1947. Doesn’t get more precise than that! In great condition, and measuring 410mm L x 280mm W x 430mm x H. SOLD-$240 @ Terang, Victoria
01.01.2022 The maiden voyage piece for @vicandray is, quite fittingly a ‘Steamer Trunk’. This canvas clad ripper is dripping with patina and so much character that Jack and Rose would’ve latched right onto it. Perfect piece for a coffee table, bed end storage or a toy chest...possibilities go on and on and on. She’s 100 cm long, 50 cm wide, 41.5 cm high. $150 If your interested email or message me. @ Terang, Victoria
