22.01.2022 Corio's successful Road Rescue Capability Assessment On Tuesday night, VICSES Corio Unit undertook the Road Rescue Capability Assessment, which all road rescue-accredited units must sit every three years. The scenario was challenging, but we are proud that we successfully passed! A huge thank you to Regional Trainer Brad & the Corio Unit assessment team members for their commitment over one month to prepare for the assessment, and to all the members families that support ...them to volunteer every day. We're grateful to Rachel, Shane, Steph, Marie & Darren and Dave who generously donated their old vehicles, allowing us to get prepared after a difficult year with limited training Thanks also to assessors Gerry and Ben for the invaluable feedback that we can continue to learn and improve on.

21.01.2022 SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING - Melbourne Area for HEAVY RAINFALL For people in parts of Northern and Western Local Warning Areas.... Issued at 6:05 pm Sunday, 22 November 2020. HEAVY RAINFALL WITH THUNDERSTORMS Stay Informed: http://www.bom.gov.au/vic/warnings/ Weather Situation: The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 5:55 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near the area west of Ballan, the area west of Daylesford and the area east of Ballarat. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east. They are forecast to affect Gisborne and the area north of Bacchus Marsh by 6:25 pm and Craigieburn, Sunbury and the area west of Whittlesea by 6:55 pm. Heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding is likely. Ballarat recorded 22mm of rain in the 30 minutes to 5:45 pm. The Victoria State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Check that loose items such as outdoor settings, umbrellas and trampolines are safely secured and move vehicles under cover or away from trees. * Stay indoors and away from windows. * If outdoors, move to a safe place indoors. Stay away from trees, drains, gutters, creeks and waterways. * If driving conditions are dangerous, safely pull over away from trees, drains, low-lying areas and floodwater. Avoid travel if possible. * Stay safe by avoiding dangerous hazards, such as floodwater, mud, debris, damaged roads and fallen trees. * Stay away from fallen powerlines always assume they are live. * Stay informed monitor weather warnings, forecasts and river levels at the Bureau of Meteorology website, and warnings through VicEmergency. The next warning is due to be issued by 7:05 pm. A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for parts of the Central, Mallee, South West and North Central districts.

17.01.2022 Taking a moment today to look back on the year that was! In 2020, we had 50 more requests for assistance than in 2019. There was a bit of everything: landslides in Anakie, tornados in Horsham and Geelong's South, and even an earthquake near Lara in July! And of course who can forget a global pandemic. We want to say a big thank you to our volunteers and their families in what was a very challenging year for training and operations, and to our community for all their support throughout the year

The baby bird had fallen from its nest in a roof, getting itself wedged between the bricks and a beam.
