Victims Assist Queensland is the government organisation that assesses and determines your applications, not us. You can choose to prepare your own application with Victims Assist. 22.01.2022 Key amendments to Victims of Crime Assistance Act 2009 came into effect on 1 July 2017 as follows: 1.A victim’s property that is held by the state for an investigation or as evidence will be returned to the victim as soon as possible. 2.Eligible persons will be given the opportunity to write to the parole board under the Corrective Services Act 2006 about granting parole to the offender.... 3.Victim includes those who suffered harm from domestic violence. 4.Agencies such as the Queensland Police Service, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and Queensland Corrective Services must proactively give information about the victims’ registers, investigations and prosecutions without the victim having to ask for the information, when it is appropriate and practicable to do so.

05.01.2022 What financial assistance may be available in Queensland: Victims Assist (QLD Government) provides financial assistance to eligible victims who have been injured by an act of violence in Queensland. We assist you in preparing your application to Victims Assist. If your application is successful, we are paid $500 by Victims Assist for our assistance to you.... If your application is approved, Victims Assist can help cover some or all of the costs associated with your recovery. These costs may include: medical and counselling costs travel costs to attend medical and counselling appointments safety and security costs replacement of clothing damaged during the crime crime scene cleaning costs loss of earnings (up to $20,000special conditions apply) other reasonable expenses to help recover from an injury legal costs incurred in applying for assistance (up to $500special conditions apply) funeral costs (up to $8,000). The total amount of assistance granted will vary depending on the victim’s individual circumstances. A primary victim may also be eligible to receive a special assistance payment of up to $10,000. A related victim may be eligible to receive a distress payment of up to $10,000 as well as a dependency payment. A primary victim may be granted up to $75,000. Other victims may be granted up to $50,000.
