25.01.2022 I am so honoured and privileged to have been selected as one of four artists to hold an international 'Solo Art Exhibition' by the Light Space and Time Online Gallery (Dec 15, 2020 - Jan 14, 2021) https://www.lightspacetime.art/victoria-kitanov-solo-art-e/

25.01.2022 Earlier this year I had the privilege of meeting another Master Modeller, Mr Bill Elbourne. I was so taken with his magnificent scale model of the Sydney Ports Corporation Motor Tug (MT) Ted Noffs at the St George Model Boat Club in Sydney, I just had to paint it! Bill's now 'downsized' collection (to make more room to build more boats!) features a magnificent collection of tugs, ships and carriers. He is a member of the Newcastle Marine Modellers Association. His generosity is boundless and his knowledge is incredible! Read more about Bill on my website: https://www.victoriakitanovfineart.com.au//built-to-scale/

24.01.2022 https://www.victoriakitanovfineart.com.au//the-jetty-merm/ Thrilled to bits that 'The Jetty Mermaids' has been selected in the by the Australian Society of Marine Artists to feature in their forthcoming exhibition, 'Seas of Change' which will be held at the Royal Art Society Lavendar Bay Studio, 25 Walker Street North Sydney from 9th - 25th October And with thanks to my darling friend Maria Capsanis - who's Mother, Koula (nee Kolanztis in red), the painting will also feature in the Kytherian Association Newsletter which aims to connect Kytherian Greeks in Australia and overseas

19.01.2022 Pleased as punch, and so very proud to have been awarded 3rd place in the painting/drawing category with ‘Polaris under Pyrmont Bridge’ in the 2920 All Water/Seascapes Exhibition, Contrmporary Art Gallery Online

18.01.2022 Looking like any carefree tourist on the voyage of a lifetime, it is in fact a portrait of the man who would later become my father on his way to Australia. Categorized as a refugee or 'Displaced Person' following his defection from Communist Bulgaria in 1949, Peter Mihailovich Kitanov, Passenger No. 666 traveled from Bremerhaven, Germany aboard the Norwegian M.S. SKAUBRYN. According to the Solemn Mysteries of the Ancient Order of the Deep, Peter "crossed the line" of the Equ...ator on the 19th March 1951 bound for Melbourne. As a teen, I was neither close to my father nor interested in his stories of a world utterly foreign to me. After traveling to Bulgaria in my 30s and writing my Honours thesis about him in my 40s, I discovered the man and made peace with my past. Peter Kitanov was an interesting man with a fascinating story and I remain indebted to those who helped to unravel the mystery of a man I got to know better after death. My thesis proved personally cathartic - he wasn't an easy man to live with, but this painting is a tribute to a brave and adventurous spirit. https://www.victoriakitanovfineart.com.au//seas-of-change/

14.01.2022 'The Jetty Mermaids', Coffs Harbour, New South Wales, 1942 by Victoria Kitanov and featured in the 'Seas of Change' theme of the Australian Society of Marine Artists Exhibit at the Royal Art Society, North Sydney. The painting was also featured in the Sept/Oct issue of The Kytherian Association Newsletter. 14.01.2022 Honoured and absolutely thrilled with news that 'Heading in: Svitzer Tug Waratah on Sydney Harbour' has been shortlisted in the 2020 Mission to Seafarers Art Prize! https://www.victoriakitanovfineart.com.au//svitzer-warata/ Fingers crossed!! Due to current Covid-19 restrictions in Melbourne, this year's Mission to Seafarers Art Prize will be fully online.... Among the many charities to support, the Mission to Seafarers - Caring for Seafarers in Victorian Ports since 1857 must be one of the worthiest and most deserving. https://missiontoseafarers.com.au

12.01.2022 A privilege to have the last of ‘The Jetty Mermaids’ - Kaula (‘Kath’) Capsanis - the girl in the red dress, visit the Marine Artists exhibition at the Royal Art Society Gallery, North Sydney. Pity about the mask, but at 94 Kaula is just as lovely as she was the day she posed on the deck of a steamer, on The Jetty, Coffs Harbour, in 1942 https://www.victoriakitanovfineart.com.au//the-jetty-merm/

12.01.2022 Australian Society of Marine Artists, Inc. in association with The Royal Art Society Lavender Bay Gallery presents the National Marine Art Exhibition (9-25 October 2020, North Sydney). This year's theme is 'Seas of Change' and 'The Jetty Mermaids, Coffs Harbour, 1942' selected to enter in 2020. There is a fascinating story that inspired this painting, with more stories generated since then, all of which add a deeper layers to the artwork https://www.victoriakitanovfineart.com.au//the-jetty-merm/

11.01.2022 I feel incredibly honoured and thrilled beyond words to have been selected one of the Top 4 international artists in the Light Space & Time Online Gallery's 16th "Solo Art Series". My body of work includes a selection of 15 marine paintings & will showcase between December 2020 - January 2021 Thank you to everyone for all your lovely shares & comments on my personal FB page (which I rarely use) even though I meant to share the news on this page. I deeply appreciate the love & best wishes - it means so much to me

08.01.2022 YENDYS: Portrait of George McGoogan and an historic 18-foot skiff https://www.victoriakitanovfineart.com.au//yendys-portrai/ The original framed watercolour was recently sold to a member of the McGoogan-Birch Family and has gone to a new home. The restored Yendys forms part of the Sydney Heritage Fleet and is on permanent display at Wharf 7, Pyrmont.... In conversation with Scott McGoogan, he likened this magnificent and very powerful vessel to a Mac Truck and told me some great stories and I'm already planning the next painting with fully-rigged YENDYS racing on Sydney Harbour! As one of the Top 4 international artists selected in the 16th Light Space and Time "Solo Art Exhibition" - this painting of YENDYS will be showcased! (Dec 2020 - Jan 2021) So exciting!!

07.01.2022 A lovely video with abstract from the recent ‘Breakout’ International exhibition courtesy of art curator, Alessia Perone, M.A.D.S Milano...
